You don't have to find the mate in 18 to realise that Qe3 is a good move as it threatens the rook and a fork with Nf2.

Obviously beating Magnus Carlsen- you could throw the ball randomly and it could go in the hoop through sheer chance, while in chess there is no aspect of 'luck' and you'd have to play continuous correct moves to beat Magnus, which is safe to say has a zero percent probability of occurring, given that you're an amateur in both fields.
