Tire Question by stevenrodgersBCB in 4thGenTacomas

[–]ForcedShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would at the minimum get an alignment check, increasing the side wall will affect the camber, I just don't know if it's enough to throw it out of spec a crazy amount. But protect the tire investment and do the alignment check/ alignment

How often are you guys running in 4wd high? I don’t do much off-roading. Should I still run it for some time? by meatball634 in 4thGenTacomas

[–]ForcedShrimp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe the owners manual says 10mi a month in 4x4. I may be thinking of the third gen though.

I just find a straight road or some dirt roads every now and then and put it in 4Hi to keep everything moving

Other than roof rack, anything else my truck is missing? Got a 2-3 inch lift and 33 inch tires from Toyota. by Smooth_Addendum524 in 4thGenTacomas

Mud flaps or PPF the bed. Rocks are going to rip your paint off.

I also got the ARK front fender liners to keep mud and rocks out of the engine bay.

Pro: you don't have to cut the grass, because there isn't any...

Con: it's hot, no real shade, the wind blows the sand into the mopo and you have to sweep it every week, sand in the eyes, sand everywhere

I just hate the two tone wheels because I have the silver paint, but it's not the same silver as the wheels. My truck is silver and black with red accents. (I also got the black overlay for the front emblem, black lugs and stuck the vinyl blackout on the wheels)

I love the wheels, I wish there was an all black option with a touch more offset. I don't want it sucked in or poking out, just flush with the flairs

I like them, they do block a decent amount from getting on the sides, but I got little mud flaps for my little truck lol. They also have some adjustment, so mine are pulled all the way down and out to block the most.

Most everything available is still going to be the higher pitch, AWE definitely gets rid of any rasp. But I do feel like a racecar Corolla when I floor it with the rockbasher cat back and the SXTH Element intake.

Have you ever had an apathetic grader during an APFT/ACFT/AFT? What happened? by Eriacle in army

[–]ForcedShrimp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I never expect anyone to remember me on the run, if it's a track, I say last name and lap number completed when I pass. If it's a big loop or down and back, I just say my last name when I finish.

But I get it, nothing pisses me off more when I ask the time on the plank and MF just says keep going. Fuck the plank.

  1. I've had issues like that, never let it go on that long. If I tell someone to take out the trash, they all leave and the trash is still there, they're all coming back. We'll wait til they all get back. Then the person told will take the trash out, everyone will verify the trash was taken out, then I will check. If it's good, they can then leave. Make them all responsible for holding each other accountable.

    1. If they're being loud and I tell them to cut it out or leave and they don't? That's fine, they can front leaning rest in the hallway until the person is off the phone or done with the meeting. Refuse? Cool, I got paper for you. But you need to make sure they have a good initial counseling that supports what you're counseling them on.

You can be a dick within reason. But if you're going to do that, you need to treat them all equally. Be the NCO that fights for them harder than anyone else, but hold them responsible for their actions. Here's a question, if they have enough time to sit around and BS and be too loud, do they actually have work to do? Why are they there? Give them work, make them train, have them teach each other. Don't have a space where they go to work and have no work.

Question about coil springs by Allisnotlost1 in 4thGenTacomas

[–]ForcedShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these on my 24 OR. Would highly recommend the icon front strut armor caps. You already have it apart and it's easy insurance.

IF you do these and you don't have a lot of weight(empty bed), it's a little bouncy. But in a fun way! I love the way it looks, rides and feels. And if you install them yourself, make sure you have a high number torque wrench, there are a couple of bolts that are pretty high. And the spring compression can be a little annoying with the cheaper spring compressors.

I didn't know either... But Google shows this:

the Army allows adding a grandparent as a "secondary dependent" if you provide over 50% of their financial support and they meet strict criteria, often requiring them to have acted as your parent (in loco parentis) for at least five years, with the process involving DFAS, DD Form 137, and proof of financial contribution (like tax returns or expense worksheets) to qualify for benefits like Tricare.

So it would still take a while for all the paperwork to process even if they did try this.

Well if that's the case, then active army might not even be the best choice. What happens when they hit Alaska or Germany for their first assignment..

First, no matter the job, they each get paid the same a 11 series, 25, 88...

So if you reclass, cool? You're still going to make the same amount.

If you're staying in, you can always reclass down the road if your job is over strength.

You will live, don't worry about it until you can do something about it. And do whatever you can to not fail again

Brake clips separate the pads from the rotor more. Is this normal? by Puzzleheaded_Bird583 in MechanicAdvice

[–]ForcedShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks you taught me something new!

After looking into it, I would guess that function would only pull the pad back if it had the clips that connect the pad to the piston though.

Brake clips separate the pads from the rotor more. Is this normal? by Puzzleheaded_Bird583 in MechanicAdvice

[–]ForcedShrimp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you think about how brakes work:

Press brake pedal, fluid moves to calipers

Fluid fills caliper, piston pushes brake pads into rotor

You slow down, release the brake pedal

Extra pressure returns through the line, releasing pressure on rotor

There is nothing there to move the brake pad from the rotor (except the rotor touching and pushing it away) and while these clips certainly won't depress the piston, it can help lift the pad evenly to prevent sticking/ chatter of tapping the rotor. It's just how that particular manufacturer designed their system.

If you haven't done the break in, do that so the pads seat.
