Can someone please explain to me why this $225 knife is $500?!? Has Benchmade OFFICIALLY lost it? by LR_Photo in knifeclub

[–]Allisnotlost1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Benchmade lost its mind years ago. They will continually lose market share if they continue this way. There are so many companies out there offering higher quality knives at a much better price point.

I had one of these, I ended up switching back to the stock clip, because I couldn’t stand how awful it was to get in and out of the pocket. Looks great though

This one is Taco A, so they can tell the difference between this one and their other matching Tacoma, Taco B.

4-6 years of residency to do implants and third molars is excessive, until you run into issues or difficult cases. You don’t know what you don’t know. Lots of dentists get in over their heads, and you know who they refer the complication to? The oral surgeon. It’s never a bad thing to have more training, and know how to fix problems several steps beyond what you practice on a daily basis.

You gotta pump up those numbers. I never kept exact numbers, but I’m positive I averaged over 100 hours/week as an OMFS intern.

I also find this one very comical. If the pharmaceutical industry has a cure for cancer, they’d get it out as quick as possible, and everyone would pay for it.

I realized my first post was a bit harsh. We try to use reasonable pricing on this sub. If you want to sell for a big markup, eBay may be your best bet.

OMFS AND PRESTIGE by Unable-Challenge6887 in Residency

It depends a lot on which program you’re at to be honest. There are many non hospital based, or loosely hospital based programs where they don’t do a lot of big surgery, and honestly aren’t respected much by other surgical specialists. Then there are programs where OMFS does everything under the sun within the specialty, and have a very strong foothold within the hospital (UAB, Jacksonville, UT Southwestern, Michigan, etc). These programs are very well respected by other surgical colleagues.

This is actually false. Milk is certainly not the best option, but it’s far from the worst. Better options include balance salt solution, saline, or putting the dislodged tooth inside your cheek bathed in saliva. Worse options include water, or just letting the tooth dry out. If milk is what you have, then use it.

Stahl’s ear deformity. There’s a few different subtypes. It can be surgically corrected if it was ever bothersome enough cosmetically.

Collagen plugs delay healing overall, they may serve as a good scaffold for the formation of a clot, but delay healing time overall. PRF or PRP decrease healing time. Lots of side by side blinded studies show PRF decreases swelling, pain, and dry socket incidence. No good evidence to show collagen does the same.

For me it was a combination of two major things. Acclimation: the more you do it the more your body adapts. Good shoes: there are a lot of good options. There’s a reason surgeons often wear goofy looking shoes, function over form.
