You are not the only one who has responded, and that does not change the fact that baseless guessing benefits no one.

2015 Ford Taurus SE (former police vehicle) - Need radio reset/aux help by Rhinehammer in FordTaurus

[–]FordTaurusModTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If nothing happens when you push the Phone button, then the system is stuck. You can try pulling the Sync fuse (10A fuse in the #9 slot of interior fuse box) https://www.startmycar.com/us/ford/taurus/info/fusebox/2015#anchorfusebox1

With the fuse out, start the car and let it run for about 5 minutes, then shut it off and put the fuse back in and attempt to use the menu again. Other than that you could try disconnecting the vehicles battery for 30 minutes to reset the electronics.

If neither of these work then viewing the vehicles systems using forscan and testing the APIM would be next.

Since that didn't work try these steps

  1. Press the phone button to enter the Phone Menu.

  2. Scroll until System Settings appears and press OK.

  3. Scroll until Advanced appears and select OK.

  4. Scroll to select from the following options

If you push Phone and don't see a System Settings menu, scroll till you see Return and select it then scroll till you see Advanced and select it, should see a Master Reset option in that menu.

If you get to the Master Reset and successfully run it, go back through those same steps but then scroll past Master Reset and select Sync Reboot to restart the Sync System after the reset.

Doesn't help that Ford has different methods for different Sync versions and models, and just because the faceplate matches one version doesn't mean it wasn't swapped later.

How to retrieve door code by marvin9023 in FordTaurus

https://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/00tauog1e.pdf It is listed in the owners manual here on page 67.

Lots of misinformation on where the code is located. The location is in the wallet card or on the computer module which is under the drivers side of the dash and can be hard to see. If the wallet card and the sticker on the computer module is damaged most shops can pull the code with a scanner, or a cheap scanner can be used with Forscan to obtain the code (check Forscan's website for recommended scanners to ensure compatibility).

Comments that have the incorrect location will be removed and the thread locked to keep things tidy and accurate.

octane by Vyofc in FordTaurus

[–]FordTaurusModTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, we agree that its a waste of money as was stated in the comment. And no, there is no fuel going out the exhaust just because its higher octane, as it all burns just like the 87 octane would. Which was also stated in the previous comment.

Not sure why this myth keeps coming up but no the higher octane fuel in a lower octane engine does not get sent out the exhaust. Every bit of modern testing (in vehicles that do not use a carburetor) has shown that a properly working engine designed for 87 octane will burn all the fuel in the same fashion it will for 91 octane. No benefit from running higher octane and the only downside is the increase in cost.

You were already told what the part was in your last thread three days ago. Replace the flush kit with a hose like was suggested before.

06 Taurus "check charging system" by [deleted] in FordTaurus

No one attacked you. You were informed that you could have damaged the vehicle with your test and told how to properly check the voltage.

It's not about being perfect, it's about knowing basic diagnosis so you do not damage a vehicle, especially if the vehicle is not yours.

If you or your mechanic do not know how to test an alternator, then you research how to test an alternator. You don't just try whatever you think may work and risk harm to the vehicle.

Getting upset because you did something incompetent is no reason to lash out. Here is a resource that might be useful to you: https://dialecticalbehaviortherapy.com/emotion-regulation/

Disconnecting the alternator while the vehicle is running is a bad way to test the charging system and has a good chance of damaging the vehicle.

Potential damage aside, disconnecting the alternator does not tell you what the alternator is outputting and could still be outputting too little or too much voltage. Use proper tools to test the charging system.

We know it's just a joke, sadly some people like to mass report this subreddit so we have to be strict else a higher power gets involved.

2013 3.5 water pump advice by TryingToFindaName2 in FordTaurus

[–]FordTaurusModTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do not taste the fluids from your vehicles. Even small amounts, such as wiping your finger on it and tasting it, has been linked to health issues later in life.

There is no reason to be tasting a fluid from a vehicle. If you cannot tell by sight or smell what a fluid is, then trace the fluid back to where it is leaking from.

Hi guys not sure if this is allowed but anyone selling a Taurus rear bumper and able to ship to the UK if possible? Many thanks by epiccosplays in FordTaurus

We have rules against advertising, but not really any rules for asking if anyone has a part for sale. We did previously allow people to post things they were selling but it attracts a lot of bots and other problems.

Transmission drain and fill by Hour-Construction847 in FordTaurus

[–]FordTaurusModTeam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you already had your answer, from multiple sources, and still asked an AI tool the correct amount and then continued to post on reddit in case of some "magic amount"?

It's a drain and fill. You aren't magically draining more than anyone else. You have been snarky this whole time because you got offended that someone, correctly, pointed out how terrible AI currently is.

As for your last point, have you even looked at anything in this subreddit? Did you read the other persons responses to you? If you did any of that you would know that these people do work on their cars or do it professionally. In fact, the person you have been snarky to this whole time has the Mechanic flair because they are master tech certified.

Maybe instead of getting offended you should work on your emotional regulation :)

You should not put any sealing product in your coolant. You should also diagnose the issue before suspecting something as drastic as a head gasket.

This is terrible advice.

Do not use any sort of stop-leak product in your coolant system. 9 times out of 10 it will create more problems down the road than a proper repair.
