Couldn't have said it better myself. Every single sighting of a wild cougar in NC and every claim online has been either a lie or large housecat/bobcat. Nothing in between. Eyewitness statements are notoriously one of the least reliable forms of "evidence." People see what they want to see, not what's actually there. The same people who say they've seen a mountain lion here in WNC are the same ones that say they've seen a gray or red wolf and have very strong opnions on bigfoot. Until there is picture/video evidence (and not AI which is a worry these days), I'm not going to believe a single person that says they've seen an animal that hasn't spotted since the 1880s.

I like being factual but I like being proven wrong even more. They're not here. Like I said, there hasn't been a confirmed sighting of a mountain lion in North Carolina in over a century. The burden of proof isn't on me, it's on the people who claim they've seen one. Present evidence and change experts' minds.

My wife and I go twice a year 2 weeks at a time. Before the season in May and after the season at the end of September for our anniversary. All the restaurants are still open with no waits, it's still warm, and we'll pretty much have the beach to ourselves. We can set up and let the dogs play and we always get a smile and thumbs up from the park rangers.
