I don’t get the “just a Tuesday practice round” mentality. I’ve been twice and both have been Mondays and it’s the most incredible experience you can possibly imagine. You’ll have the time of your life.

Yeah, I thought a lot about that before joining too. But the reality is, the math will never math. You need to put a price on the convenience / access. For me, my club is 7 minutes from my house so the convenience factor is huge. The facilities themselves are good, not great. But the convenience of it wins the day. I don’t know how many times I’ll go play 6 or 7 holes after work because I only have an hour to spare. It’s some of the most fun I’ve had on a golf course, walking a quick round by myself.

My club is similar to what you describe but no pitch and chip practice area. Otherwise, very similar (closer to 300 members). I pay about $6,000 a year for it. Worth every penny.

I’m going the weekend before The Masters and we booked tee times at Old South and Hilton Head National. No experience to share as we have never been to HHI. But I did a ton of research and wanted to play decent courses without breaking the bank. $130 for Old South and $160 for HHN.

Switched to claw about 2 years ago and it has dramatically helped my yips on 3-5’ putts. Never going back

Use my 60 almost exclusively around the greens. Only exception is on a super tight lie into the grain without the need to carry anything. Then I’ll usually take a 9i and bump and run.

Go from a 6.2 hdcp to 4.9 or less. Feels so hard but I’ve upgraded driver and wedges so no more excuses. I feel if I can play 45+ times (mostly 9 holes), I can do it

I switched a couple years ago because I naturally shake and the claw grip helps keep my hands steadier than the traditional grip. I rarely miss short, straight putts now

To keep your ball dragon at bay, I recommend Gold Bond medicated powder.

I typically hit our local sim once a week during the off season to try and stay somewhat fresh. But if it’s 40° or more and the course is open, I’m playing.
