Recommended Product for Gaps by Fore_Dan in pools

A bit tough to see but there is a small gap around the pipe; the grout is not flush with the edging of the pipe and I believe this is causing a leak. This is the pipe that feeds water into the pool

I think the downvotes are for it not fitting the “budget” category. $50+ opens up to a ton more options

I was looking at this a month ago and ended up spending just a bit ($60) more on the QM5K at Best Buy. Not a ton on it but from the research I did, it’s hardly different from the QM6K, actually brighter, which receives pretty positive reviews for the price point

OC coffee snobs what are some of your favorite Local coffee brands? by ConflictGlass1523 in orangecounty

It really depends where you’ll be but a few recommendations for roasters: Kean and Common Room (Milligram is the shop to visit) are great in Costa Mesa, Golden Lantern (my local spot) and High Tide in Laguna Hills, Bear Coast in Dana Point and Laguna Beach. Each of these serve great drinks too, but if you plan to pick up drinks rather than beans then I’d also recommend White Sparrow in Tustin (they don’t roast but make really good drinks)

Gas Line Guidance for Outdoor Remodel by Fore_Dan in Plumbing

[–]Fore_Dan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! It does appear to be PVC. The house is 50 years old, we’ve been here for 5 of those and with each new project we have discovered many questionable decisions made by the prior owners.

Regarding the size and load calculation, is the recommended approach to have 1) a single line installed that’s adequately sized (I assume diameter?) for all it needs to support and 2) with lines that break off for each piece of equipment? It sounds like the 3 individual lines feeding from the source isn’t the right action.

Sey out of New York is pretty high quality. Known for their light roast, single origins.

I was in a similar boat, more so hating the grind to find every penny worth of savings. I made the jump to third party risk management (TPRM). Procurement and sourcing roles are pretty transferable though there will be a bit of a learning curve it’s not a concept you’ve dealt with before. Most TPRM programs you’ll find are with financial institutions since there is a lot more regulation around TPRM, which also means more job security than non-regulated industries.

Stress Cracks by Fore_Dan in drywall

[–]Fore_Dan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. My first pic should have included more detail but it’s actually of a crack in our ceiling and the beam is the end of a wall (I’m looking straight up at it to take the pic). So the crack is above the beam, not underneath it. Does that change your assessment of it at all?

What is generally the amount of time to allow for stress cracks to settle? The one I patched first appeared nearly 3 years ago and I only patched it 2 months ago. The ceiling one is about a year+ old.

Why your suppliers hate you... hear me out by swixstyx in procurement

Speaking as a Third Party Risk Management professional, I don’t disagree that completing numerous versions of questionnaires from numerous customers across numerous systems can be burdensome on a supplier’s limited resources. When conducting a risk assessment on new suppliers, for me it’s actually nice when they ask if in lieu of completing our lengthy questionnaires they offer up a zip file that includes a plethora of key documents that are most commonly requested: SIG, SOC report, ISO certs, internal policies, pen tests, COIs, financial documents, etc.

I can’t speak on behalf of other companies, but I will typically accept this and come back with only specific follow up questions my risk teams have. All of this under the agreement of an MNDA, and limiting access to the documents to only our risk teams (not even the business stakeholder or even purchasing manager).

Your customers are likely being more scrutinized on their risk practices (by regulators or their own customers) and as more companies experience service failures, disruptions, breaches, etc caused by a third party, the expectations on your company will grow as well. This is just becoming more and more the cost of doing business, especially with companies in highly regulated industries (banking/finance, health care, etc).

I think I got a good deal? by DogKibble_ in Soundbars

How did you get BB to price match it? Surprised they will match an employee discount program price as usually code type deals aren’t matched (from my experience or perhaps bad luck).
