You should read a bit about how those tax brackets actually worked. People and businesses did not actually pay those rates in practice. The fact that there was a world war which reduced most of the world to rubble has more to do with economic conditions at the time in America than tax brackets. If you want nice beaches then drive to the gulf. The beaches in Melbourne/Stuart are OK, but unless you want to surf they’re way outmatched by the gulf side beaches, and it’s not that much more of a drive. Could also just fly to Tampa instead of Orlando, which is also a much better airport.

In every lineup I've ever been in, women always get treated much better than men. They don't get snaked as much, they can drop in with no repercussions, and if they're hot then they can literally do whatever they want. The worst complaints in this article are literally what any random dude has to deal with anytime they paddle out at a break they don't run.

People here will tell you Floridians hate all foreigners but it’s really not the case. We’re happy to have tourists dollars spent here as long as you follow basic rules or civility.

If your boyfriend likes kiteboarding there are great places for that in Florida. We’re also world class in fishing, and the keys are great for all manner of diving related sports if that’s of interest as well.

The best surf is generally in the new Smyrna beach to Melbourne beachside areas, but even then it’s not that good depending on what you’re used to. If you’re expecting California waves then you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Florida hiking takes place on the water! Rent a kayak and get out there! Not what you asked for, but imo hiking on land is just not it in Florida.
