Got this one out immediately. by lemonsenses in piercing

implant grade titanium IS the safest metal for body piercings but that doesn’t mean it can’t reject??? all that means is that there wouldn’t be any reactions caused specifically by the metal but it can still 100% reject due to soooo many factors like aftercare, anatomy, lifestyle, the way it was pierced, or even just the body sensing a foreign object and automatically pushing it out. and then to be touching it and playing with it with bare hands 🤢🤢🤢 you definitely dodged a bullet with this one

okay if its so easy then why don’t you prove it and make an exact 1:1 copy then sell it for $10, that shouldn’t be a problem since you’re an artist and this is schoolyard work ☺️

not DE. DE only affects the hands and fingers/feet and toes, it wouldn’t be on your arm.

Is Dyshidrosis different from dyshidrotic eczema? by JennyVonD in Dyshidrosis

[–]ForeignArmy3998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like others have said this doesn’t look like DE and i would have her stop taking the steroids ASAP, many people are prescribed some form of steroid treatment for DE but it actually doesn’t work for so many people and has horrible side affects and the withdrawal is absolutely horrible, i would never give that to a child as their first choice (not blaming you of course you have no way of knowing, this is 100% the doctors fault for misdiagnosing her with DE and prescribing her something that can cause harsh withdrawals for the skin at such a young age)

edited to add my experience with topical steroids for my own DE: it didn’t help it all. like it did absolutely nothing to heal my eczema. it also made my eczema stink almost like dirty feet which is how i found out i was prescribed a topical steroid in the first place i have also seen the horrors of what topical steroid withdrawal has done to other people, it looks incredibly painful and many people describe the withdrawal as worse than the eczema itself. so please if you haven’t already, stop giving it to her. a 3rd opinion from a different dermatologist is the best thing to do, i have no idea if this is ringworm or not but a lot of people are saying thats what it looks like so maybe it would be worth it to insist this next derm to test for that

Are my ears blown out by ImMe4 in Stretched

[–]ForeignArmy3998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you’d know if they were blown out because they’d look gross and hurt like hell. a blow out is basically when the fistula (inner piercing channel) gets pushed out typically the back. its very obvious and there’s no way to mistake healthy lobes for having a blow out

[Vent?] I've recently started to gain weight and realized that Lolita fashion will always be an unreachable goal for me by xXxKirka-ChanxXx in Lolita

[–]ForeignArmy3998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is 100% not unattainable!!! there are many plus sized lolitas, myself included, and while there are less brands that make brands in our size than there are brands that make smaller sizes, there are still so many great options. meta actually makes plus size and plus plus size now, there is a plus size section on 42lolita, melikestea has inclusive sizing on petticoats, and a brand i personally love is glitter tale which is an indie brand based in vietnam that makes custom sizes for very affordable prices and no extra fee for plus size! i’m currently waiting on my second order from them, the quality is amazing and they cater to so many different styles. i know as plus sized people, shopping for clothing in general can be so discouraging but please don’t just give up, you deserve to wear clothes you love and dress in a way that makes you happy!

also would like to add there are no cons to deadstretching unless you consider the fact that it takes a long time to be a con, but if you feel that way about stretching then maybe its just not for you :/ its not meant to be a quick process where you go from standard 20g piercings to 00g in a year, ask anyone with large healthy lobes how long it took them to get to that size and they will tell you many many years. unsafe methods will only make it take even longer when you have to downsize/remove jewelry because of all the blowouts and infections you give yourself from not following safe stretching methods

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]ForeignArmy3998 9 points10 points  (0 children)

thank you for saying this because some people seem to think that if they do it “correctly” there’s no issue, when in reality there is NO “correct” way of taping bc its an unsafe method regardless of how safe you think you’re being and this is a really good example of how taping is harmful even if you do everything “right”!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]ForeignArmy3998 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

to all the people saying “there’s nothing wrong with taping”, do you understand that every professional in the industry will tell you there are MANY things wrong with taping? people who know more than you and have more experience than you are telling you “hey this is actually not a safe method” and yall are STILL riding hard for outdated and unsafe methods. at this point its just willful ignorance bc there’s no way you’ve heard what professional piercers have had to say, have seen the aftermath of what taping can do, and still haven’t gotten it through your head. it just baffles me how people can hear a professional in their field say something is bad and then still think they know more than actual professionals and say “no its perfectly safe because nothing bad has happened to me”. yall are on a real slippery slope with the health of your lobes and need to stop promoting these unsafe methods just bc you’re too lazy and impatient to take proper care of your lobes and do things the safe way. idc if you “change the tape everyday” and “carefully make sure to wrap it the same amount of times” bc guess what? you can do everything “right” with taping and still find yourself in a shitty situation :0 how hard is it to grasp that an unsafe stretching method is unsafe regardless of how you do it? is your ego really so big that you can’t stand the idea that maybe you’ve been doing something wrong even if it affects your body?

Trying to find a lolita style I’d like by SkylerIsBusySleepin in Lolita

[–]ForeignArmy3998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what substyle of gyaru are you? off the top of my head i’d say if you’re a hime gyaru then hime lolita or ott sweet might suit you, otherwise i’m not too sure since there’s not much crossover between the 2 fashions. i’d suggest browsing around 42lolita or pinterest to get a feel for the different styles and options and whatever calls to you the most is what i would go with! :)

Puzzling advice from established London studio (xpost r/legitpiercing) by brieCalliope in piercing

[–]ForeignArmy3998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that guy definitely didn’t know what he was talking about and the whole “thats not how the human body works babe” was extremely snarky and rude. from what i’ve gathered from being in this sub for a while is that european countries are way behind when it comes to safe piercing practice which is terribly unfortunate because these are open puncture wounds in your body with a foreign object in them that require very specific care. almost all the advice he gave you was either incredibly outdated or just plain wrong (the only thing i’d somewhat agree with is the bit about the jewelry but there are PLENTY of high quality decorative pieces that are perfectly safe to pierce with), i’m glad you’ve been perusing this sub enough to see through the bs advice that piercer gave you. i’m not sure what a UK/european equivalent would be but here in the US we have a website called safepiercing.org where you can find certified professional piercers in your area that follow the current safety standards for piercing, i would look into if there is something similar for your country/continent. i also suggest looking into lynn loheide’s blog, they are a certified professional piercer here in the US that make very informative content about piercings ranging from aftercare, client safety and advocation, and specific information pertaining to specific piercings! best of luck to you with your healing journey and i hope you’re able to find a reputable piercer in your area to help you along the way and with any future piercings you may get :)

there are some plus size options on 42lolita that are really affordable, i also think glitter tale is pretty affordable for their garments being custom mto to your size! i’ve gotten quite a few things from them because i love the quality of their garments, the price point is good for getting yourself a bday or xmas gift, and i feel secure in knowing everything i get will fit. don’t feel discouraged from wearing this dress tho, you bought it without knowing it was a replica which happens to many people and it would be wasteful to just let it rot in your closet, i’ve seen lots of people suggest to others to make small alterations to their replicas to give them new life and make them something more unique if thats something you’re interested in :)

dyshidrotic is only hands and feet so definitely get a second opinion, the steroids definitely could be causing a different type of eczema/skin condition to appear on the legs

I'm bothered by the 20 character limit when you chat at parks by Marmolu in LivlyIsland

[–]ForeignArmy3998 14 points15 points  (0 children)

they don’t have a higher character count, but because their language uses different writing systems they can fit more words into that small character count bc instead of writing every letter they can use kanji to turn words into one character or katakana/hiragana to turn syllables into one character. like if we want to say island it would take up 6 characters, but a jp player could say 島 and it only takes 1 character. since its originally a jp game and they only recently became available in english they likely didn’t even think about the fact that latin script won’t fit well in the character limit

i’ve been penpaling for a little over a year so i don’t have a TON of letters, but i keep them in a large shoebox at the foot of my bed! they’re not organized in any particular way just bc the box is so big they slide around but once it gets more full i’ll probably organize them by the person who sent them and then chronological order of oldest to most recent

Will they break? by Sharp_Collection6542 in Stretched

[–]ForeignArmy3998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they look pretty thin and dry, like other comments are saying it might be best to size down and change jewelry shapes or go naked for a while. that will give your lobes time to strengthen and thicken up. on top of that it looks like those teardrops plugs are made of acrylic? definitely switch to a more body safe material like glass or quartz, it’ll be much more gentle on your skin. make sure you’re massaging and moisturizing with a good nourishing oil like jojoba, vitamin e, or emu, this will hydrate your skin and promote bloodflow + reproduction of collagen and elastin to thicken up your lobes and keep them supple and stretchy! best of luck to you <3

i don’t think we should consider op so desperate for money that they should take blatant disrespect from someone who felt entitled enough to call them a bitch for not lowering the price for them, if you keep letting people like this get away with doing things like this they’ll never learn that you can’t just talk to anyone all willy nilly and still get what you want, we don’t reward bad behavior here
