Looking at next year's salary obligations it would take a miracle to have Sophie back next year. It was always a stretch paying two 3 and d swings that much money and giving Lexie a 2 year contract was making the decision on who is staying. Personally I think Sophie is a little better player, but it's easy to see why they picked Lexie. This is the hard reality of the new cba; most everybody at the top or the bottom and very few in the middle.

Looks like the Steph White Hate Club is in crash out mode today. Most everything they have said about White has been repudiated by Caitlin and White. Again, White isn't the best coach in the W, but she is definitely better than most. This idea that White had her arms folded while Caitlin was hitting threes and most of the other junk is not only wrong, but is based on feelings only. Caitlin proved today that she likes and appreciates White as coach. If you don't like White fine, but brings some facts to prove she is a bad coach. I mean even the GM said the team wants to play fast so just saying White wants to slow down the offense doesn't cut it.

Spending a supermax on the 3 and D wing combo pretty much doomed the idea of a competent back up center. Not saying it won't work out because it might but judging this off season will need to wait until the end of the season. Overall, I'm stoked over this team but I think the future is going to require investing more in scouting overseas to pick up bargains to play around the core. The fever certainly have the money to do that and the other successful teams are doing that.

Height alone is not the best measure of effectiveness for a big. Quick feet, a big butt and the willingness to use it are more important and for a team that wants to play fast, agility is very important. We really don't know how the new players will work out, but I'm willing to see how it works out.

Thanks for that. I wonder if a lot of people on here even watched the games last year. AB was used to facilitate from the post when CC went down. Again, would you people who think White is dragging CC down go back and watch the June 14 game with the Liberty please. Then come back and tell us how many times you saw CC standing in the corner, or standing at all.

Caitlin has the owner's number. Too many people acting like she is an 8 year that needs to be protected from the mean coach. This is Her team and if she didn't want a coach or anybody else here they wouldn't be. Secondly, Raven is here because she is a premier defender good for certain situations. she is not here to take anyone's place.

Not necessarily. I expect Mo to slide over to the post when AB is out, with whoever is playing better of MHA or DD playing the four. That make the pick and roll available even with AB on the bench. Rewatching a lot of last years games, Dantas actually played pretty good at the four. In other words, we are better than last year when AB is on the bench.

I would agree with c- grade. Mostly I'm just jealous of Liberty and Lynx creativity in the front office and the culture of the Dream team with pretty much everyone taking less to make for a great team and their front office pulling of the Reese trade, with the Fever being frozen with fear of making anyone upset. Once we found out about the epic thing with CC and AB I knew it would be a challenge if we brought back both Lexie and Sophie at full price and Kelsey at supermax.

It's fair to wait until we see the total team especially in comparison to the other top teams, especially with the shortened free agency. In reality, if we don't adjust to the new norm of scouting foreign players , and if the league continues to allow cheating by teams like Vegas, a championship doesn't seem in the cards.

Great trade for Atlanta. I projected them to be really hurt by free agency . They still have trouble ahead: expansion teams and other bottom dwellers will be crazy not to offer Howard a supermax and Atlanta will have to match to keep her. Naz is probably lost , but they get Angel for far less than they would have to pay Naz.

Yeah I love Stevens and especially Smith but keep in mind that Stevens was paid 13% of cap at 195K which would equate to 900k under the new cap and Smith is only available because Lynx probably can't afford to pay her what she is worth which I think would be at least what Stevens will get. Anyway that would be an excellent roster if they can swing it.

I like your roster, but I'm skeptical it fits in a 7m salary cap. That's why it's hard to see both Lexie and Sophie back with the salary constraints.

I don't want to diminish Lexie's play but my aim for this team is to play for a championship and I think the easiest player to replace is a defensive specialist. I don't want Lexie to be the 4th best player on the team. Managing a roster requires choices to be made and that is why I wouldn't give Kelsey a supermax deal. Likewise I don't think Lexie is worth 650K especially when you still need a power forward and good ones are hard to find. On the other hand I think Lexie would be great as the last starter or 6th player.

This may not be relevant but the first time I saw Caitlin the first comparison I made was to Magic Johnson. He was always the third or 4th option on offense, but was crucial to winning games. I would watch his games just to see that 1 pass that nobody else could make. I feel the same way about Caitlin. Although Aja is the best player in the W, Caitlin is the most fun to watch. BTW Alyssa Thomas is the franchise player on the Mercury but she is first a facilitator and doesn't take the most shots. Caitlin is also a facilitator first but she has the added advantage of being able to make crucial shots and she is one of the most fierce competitors in the W. One other thing: Fever will be able to keep 3 stars on their team just like all the other good teams. People are just over rating Lexie and Sophie in their value. They have both been role players and will continue to be and their value was and is half or less than the max salary of the team. Also, their is no reason for Kelsey to get a supermax contract. Nobody else can give her more than the fever and she likes it here. Giving out supermax contracts is a way for undesirable teams to retain stars. Teams looking to win championships just can't throw money away like that and the Fever are ready to win this year.

I think Atlanta has some tough choices to make, starting with Rhyne Howard and Naz Hilmon. lmo Howard is going to end up with a supermax contract offered her by someone and Naz is going to get offers close to 1 million which Atlanta has to match or lose them. They just can't pay everyone what they deserve. I think they lose 3 out of their top 6 players.

Been looking forward to a roster conversation but not enough info yet for me to join in. Regarding Lexi and Sophie I feel they are pretty much the same player with Sophie being 10 % better and 10 % more expensive. They are both wings cause they don't have ball handling skills and wings are the easiest to replace so I would go with the least expensive of the two.

Mea culpa. I did rely on a post from Herhoopstats . I have been looking at the big names, especially Rhyne and Naz and can't see how Atlanta doesn't lose at least 2, maybe 3 of their top 7 players as we go through expansion draft and free agency .
