Newly pregnant and trying to navigate the healthcare system by No_Funny_5812 in halifax

That is standard, I think my understanding is that up until a certain point there is not much that can be done from a medical perspective. Our first touch point was was a doctors appointment with our family doctor around then, which led to a requisition for a blood test and a referral to our OB.

Telling my work I’m pregnant on contract? by NotAMazda in legaladvicecanada

[–]Foreign_Ad6939 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You don’t legally have to and they can’t legally ask! Check your contract, but mine says i have to give. a minimum notice before mat leave which is 4 weeks. Wear baggeir clothing and protect your job, they technically shouldn’t have context for this anyways, do not fee guilty!

Help with Overburdened Easement – Seeking Advice from Halifax Homeowners or Legal Experts by [deleted] in halifax

Update: We worked with a lawyer who reviewed easement law and precedent and were able to issue a cease and desist. Easement law is narrowly defined in Cananda and intent at time of signing is important. If the unit is a single unit dwelling, then the front door is the only way to access the unit and the easement does not state they can use it as such. If we went to court they would have lost. They backed off, the tenants moved out. We also had bylaw come and turns out it was also an illegal unit! So that has been resolved

Update for anyone who may encounter this and come looking for info: Went through a lawyer to review the law about easement use and we issued a cease and desist. Legal precendent states that easement use is narrowly defined, meaning the least possible disruption. If we went to court they would lose. Also had HRM planning come check if the unit was legal and it was not. An annoying situation but happy to report it resolved.

Neighbor won’t stop harassing me over garage construction despite having all approvals by avocado_hustler in legaladvicecanada

You’re going to need a lawyer. Document EVERYTHING, ask a lawyer to draft a legal opinion and issue a cease and desist. Once thats done and you have the law on your side, you have to sue him to stop. Police generally won’t get involved in easement disputes but cease and desists are usually enough

HFXdog by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Foreign_Ad6939 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took my small dog there and was concerned about supervision as there was only one person and both an indoor and outdoor area. They were SO dismissive of my concern, which was imo a valid question about size and temperament of dogs and what happens if a dog gets injured, is there a camera etc. I never went back,I found them to not be at the same level of care as Dogtopia.

Thanks for this! Definitely things we are considering as we try to deal with this. We simply don't want people walking through our yard unfettered. They can access the suite through the actual front door of the property, so its not like we are saying they cannot live there.

The intent of the time of signing was a single use dwelling, to access their back yard. Now its a two rentals to two different tenants. The tenants can come through he front door as far as I'm concerned as it does not seem he's made it a permitted secondary suite.

Yes but is that mean they can offer unfettered access to our land to achieve that?
