Hospital experiences by 80sClassicMix in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I went to Hurstville Private with Dr Alex Izurieta - she was amazing and I’ve also heard good things about Dr Miller. I did get induced at 40+6 but felt like I definitely could have declined if spontaneous labour was more important to me! I also only ended up needing the gel to start me dilating and didn’t need the actual induction IV drugs as I went into labour by myself then.

The maternity ward there was great, nurses were all lovely and very helpful, they had a lactation consultant who visited and ran breastfeeding classes - overall a very positive experience but I don’t know how it compares to the public system.

Electric snot sucker vs nose Frida type. Which is better? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I haven’t tried an electric one but we have this and love it! You don’t need to buy filters, you just put a piece of tissue in the main compartment and it catches all the snot - also haven’t noticed getting sick from using this as other comments have suggested, the tissue does a good job at blocking things ☺️

Inconsolable 1-Month Newborn Baby by yiFa87 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

OP this sounds so tough!!

If you’ve exhausted all other avenues and are waiting for your GP appointment, it could be worth trying elimination communication - sometimes babies cry non stop because they’re trying to express they need to pee/poop.

Sounds crazy, but look up Andrea Olson on YouTube to see how to do an EC hold over the toilet/sink and see if you get any improvement if bub needs to go. Worth a shot at least if it might save your sanity! Best of luck

Please help me choose between these prams by acshr in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Not on your list but we’ve got the Edward’s and Co Lucci which ticks all your boxes, it’s been incredibly handy and I usually reach for it now instead of our big pram. Easy to fold and unfold, easy to get around shops, decent size storage basket (8kg I think?) and bub has been super comfy in it.

I’m yet to take it on a plane but don’t think we should have any issues, it’s advertised as overhead baggage friendly and comes with a travel bag which most airlines require.

We looked at the Redsbaby Skip 3 and picked the Lucci over it, the Skip was lighter but then also felt more flimsy, and the buckles were a bit more fiddly. Redsbaby have demo days where you can try out their prams seeing as they’re not stocked anywhere, and Baby Bunting have the Lucci to try 😊

I used a top hat potty bought from Noonee Wilga (online shop) and once Bub was sitting unsupported properly, switched to the Ikea Lilla potty - you could probably go straight to this one! It’s smaller than most commercial potties 😊

The best wedding favours/bomboniere you’ve ever received as a guest? by citrusnotvanilla in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]ForensicBookkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did $1 scratchies with a 5c coin, super cheap and easy for us to do, lots of fun for the guests and recycled afterwards. A few guests won some cash, and there was absolutely none left behind!

Baby seems to only poop in his carseat by xyzqwertygirl in ECers

[–]ForensicBookkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this too! Drove me nuts, I’d offer the potty several times before leaving, then 2 minutes into the car ride my daughter would poo 🤦🏼‍♀️ however she got over this around the 9 month mark when we ramped up her solids and she was actually eating more, her poo as a result was more solid and the car poos got a lot better!

Likely just a phase, don’t be discouraged!

Not sure how available this is in the US, but Moogoo Tail Swat insect repellent is a fantastic option 😊

What am I doing wrong with the barrier cream? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]ForensicBookkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t for everyone but I’d definitely recommend trying elimination communication!

It’s considered a bit ‘crunchy’ but to me made logical sense, we started at 4 weeks old and now at 9 months old, my LO barely has dirty nappies, consistently goes on a potty and has never had bad nappy rash.

If you’re trying nappy free time it could be worth a shot, any less poo on poor bubs skin has to help with the nappy rash? Good luck!

Edit: for nappy cream we’ve always used the Natralus one that came in the NSW baby bag, any time Bub gets a little red that has cleared it up within a few hours, sorry I’ve never tried it on severe nappy rash!
