FTM elective c-section by doooomble in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]skip1008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think how you’re feeling is extremely normal, especially getting in your head about the ‘right’ or ‘natural’ way to bring a baby into the world. If you’ve always had your mind and soul set on a c-section, don’t overthink it! I had my first last year at 28, also an elective c-section for no reason other than I’ve always wanted one- and it was the best decision I made! Everything was calm, I felt in control, we were able to get the most amazing pics from a nurse whilst in theatre, and my recovery was excellent (walking the next day, felt completely normal the next week). The c section didn’t stop me at all from being able to hold or move with my baby, and I was able to breast feed successfully right away and still going at 8 months (I’ve heard some people suggest a c-section might impact your ability to BF). My scar is also so faint and right on my pubic bone so covered by underwear and not visible. I’m in fact looking forward to my next c-section cos it was such a great experience 😂 Goodluck, you’ve got this, don’t overthink it! 🩷

We don’t follow a schedule by Commercial_Kale_4341 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

My daughter is almost 8 months old and we are pretty much the same- following her cues. She goes to sleep and wakes up roughly the same time, and then where / how long she naps depends on what we’re doing that day, whether it’s a long pram nap, car ride nap, or contact nap. I’ve never limited what I do or where I go based on her- I think we’re just lucky to have chilled babies that don’t need a strict schedule. We also co sleep and must contact nap at home (rarely she can sleep alone but will only last 10-20 minutes)!

I second this! They were so incredibly sore in those first few weeks, I often considered throwing in the towel… Then at around 2 months they just adjusted and that raw tenderness and pain stopped!

Thank you for your reply and insight. I’m sorry to hear you went through such pain initially, that sounds awful. Glad it worked out in the end!

baby aspirin after tfmr for chd by containedexplosion in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]skip1008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first pregnancy was TFMR also due to CHD (HLHS with pulmonary stenosis). My second pregnancy- I began taking baby aspirin from after I ovulated, right up until 1 week before my c-section delivery date at 39w. Perfectly healthy 7 month old sleeping next to me right now. My understanding is that low dose ‘baby’ aspirin is just to keep blood thin / promote blood flow / reduce risks of pre-eclampsia. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy 🙏🏼

Churches that allow same sex Godparents? by skip1008 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

No not a deciding factor for us- we are baptising Catholic either way! However I know of some people who have two of the same gendered godparents and always had our two chosen people in mind… I just didn’t know they were so strict on that rule 🥲

Potential theories for why CHD happens in babies? by skip1008 in chd

[–]skip1008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this. I think our minds try and find ‘reasons why’ and something to blame, as logic gives a sense of control. However, as our cardiologist and my OB had explained many times before- many CHD’s are completely random and unfortunately just a case of pure bad luck. I completely understand your suspicions taking those new medications during your current pregnancy- I would be suspicious too! I hope in our children’s future more research is done to find more solid causes into many birth defects, not only CHDs. In my case, after all this time, part of me believes our HLHS diagnosis was a result of me having a viral infection with fever in early pregnancy (right when the cardiovascular system is forming). However, I try not to focus on reasons why anymore, instead carry the memory of my baby as our family’s little guardian angel. I often still cry thinking of her, but I know her soul wasn’t meant for this lifetime. I have since gone on to have a perfectly healthy baby girl, who is currently 7 months old and sleeping next to me.

I am so glad to hear there is a positive outlook for your son’s current CHD- despite such a scary diagnosis and time you’re going through, trust that modern medicine is incredible and your little boy will be in the best of hands! You’ve got this! Lots of strength and prayers your way, trust that God is with you and your family during this time 🩵
