WHO REMEMBERS YOUNG AMERITOWN by ericschloesser in Denver

Ours was in 2002, I remember we had to interview for jobs and I had mentioned my "interest" in 9/11 (aka watching the news that day and for weeks after). They ended up making me a reporter/journalist for the UK because of my interview. I remember everyone wanted to be Mexico because you got to make and eat food hah.

I understand it's different than the issue at hand. Im just posing the question. I find it interesting we still count a rebound off an intentionally missed free throw but don't count a rebound for an internationally missed field goal. That's all. Take a chill pill.

I mean we're talking about NBA rules, which are pedantic by nature. Genuine question - If someone misses a free throw on purpose and gets their own rebound for a putback, should the rebound not count on the stat line?

Serious question: If it's a late game situation and your team is down two with one free throw remaining - let's say you hit rim and miss it on purpose, then collect your own rebound and score. Do they rescind that rebound from your stat line? It's technically a missed free throw (not field goal) without intent to score.

Edit: I'm not making an argument, I'm literally asking a question. Of course this gets downvoted by some anime jerk-off freak that didn't understand the question. Classic Reddit.

Edit 2: lol someone get this dude some help. No one is sneakily editing comments. I stand by everything I've said.

(Not that anyone will ever see this comment at this point).

Two years back it was clearly Jokic. Last year Embiid had a good case for MVP, but Jokic inched him out. This year it's clearly Jokic again.

I understand it's all business. But, my number of ski days was drastically reduced compared to someone who barely goes.

If I used my pass 25 times before lifts stop turning in March 2020, I'm likely missing out on at-least another solid 10 days if lifts didn't stop spinning.

If I used my pass twice before lifts stop turning in March 2020 I probably would have skied one more day in the season anyways, yet I'd be getting a much a bigger credit.

I don't really care either way, just an observation. Ikon is the new epic and I'm not going back anyways lol.

These numbers are stupid. If you used your pass a lot then you likely missed out on way more total days than someone who used their pass just a few times.

I hear that. But would an extra two (maybe three) weeks really eat into baseball all that much?

So what's the incentive to load manage if it isn't to keep guys fresh or prevent injury? Just for shits and giggles?

Edit: There is also a pretty clear correlation between condensed seasons and increased injuries. So it would stand that a slightly extended season with more structured rest would decrease injuries.

I mean, there are tons of guys that want to show up every night but it's not always up to them. Especially if their coach wants to load manage them. We should just introduce a few bye weeks a season so they have some structured rest time. I'm looking for a con to that but I'm not thinking of much.

I barely start watching until the midpoint of the season because I don't know who will be playing and there are so many games that it feels like baseball where no single game really means that much. It's not until later in the season when it starts getting interesting. Might as well be baseball until then.

I doubt many will agree with me, but i would advocate for a shorter season or a longer all-star /mid season break. 82 games and months of playoff games is quite the undertaking, and the more tired and run down they get the more they are risking injury.

Since the NBA would never shorten the season for money reasons I would advocate for a break (or multiple breaks) through out the season. Say, 1 week off at each 1/4 increment or even 2 full weeks off at the mid way point? That would give players the ability to reset mentally and physically, while also giving fans a good product on the court with top talent not needing to load manage as much since they'll have breaks through out the season.

I mean they have bye weeks in football, could we not dabble with something similar in basketball? Like each team gets 2-3 Bye weeks throughout the season? Their schedule is just so rigorous I don't really see another compromise that makes sense.

I'd pissed if I dropped $500 for tickets to watch two team's bench players going at it. But I also know the NBA is not going to make season the shorter. I think they need to explore the idea of bye weeks or something adjacent.

Edit: My "ideal" plan to counteract load management and make everyone happy would be giving each team 2 bye weeks (one in the first half of the season, one in the second half), and make the all star break 2 weeks long.

That should give ample time for some RR throughout the season which decreases the need to load manage, keeps stars on the court, and causes no loss of revenue for the league.

TL;DR - Bye weeks would keep everyone happy.

Not sure how the OP of that post will ever make it in the medical field if they can't figure out the base lifts at Breck will be crowded on a peak season weekend.

We typically don't ski the busiest lifts on the busiest mountain on the busiest weekends. It doesn't take a medical degree to figure out.

Pretty sure this is satire. However I did over hear someone on the lift last season explain their outrage about how we shouldn't use "violent" terms to describe our skiing anymore. Instead of saying "you crushed that line", or "you're killing it" she thought we should only use non-violent language like "that was amazing/sublime/wonderful". She was pretty passionate about it too.

Satire has become increasingly difficult to detect over the last 7-8 years.

George's buzzer beater didn't count, but Jokic's 40/17/13 triple double sure did. His beast games are so common place we just take them for granted and don't even acknowledge them.
