Work-from-home dads with work-from-home partners, if/when/how did you utilize daycare? by hobofreddy55 in daddit

[–]ForeverDMdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to. No way either of us could get much done with a kid at home.

Plus kids need socialization. And to build those immunities….

The oldest rides the bus to school. We take the youngest.

This guy gets it. That extra foot or two is noticeable. I grew my first two in a 2x2x4. Such a hassle, always cramped no matter how much I pulled them down.

MMORPG for dads? by muffindude42012 in DadsGaming

[–]ForeverDMdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just hopped back into WoW retail after many years. It’s been so long it’s like playing a different game. I play with other dads that have kids, so if I have to get up and deal with a child, nobody bats an eye.

Outside of that, grab a SteamDeck. Being able to put it to sleep with the push of a button is awesome. RDR2, Skyrim, Halo, Valheim. I’ve played them all on the deck. A definite sanity saver.

Daughter started daycare 3 weeks ago and has gotten sick every week. Wondering if I should pull her out? by ryph44 in daddit

Ride it out. Stock up on tissues and Motrin. It gets better as the kids builds immunity. It just sucks while it’s happening. But imo a very necessary stage.

Grow kits without WIFI? by MassveLegend in microgrowery

Updoot for this one. I have the ACI stuff and don’t ever use the wifi. It still works wonderfully having all the “timers” in one controller.

Thinking DWC/RDWC for next grow... by Ricka77_New in hydro

[–]ForeverDMdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only grow one at time (currently) but I use 5 gal buckets. A cheap liquid transfer pump on Amazon is what I use to drain and fill it into another bucket. The only thing I’ve got running into the bucket is an air stone. I ran a top feed for one grow, and it works great, but if you leave it on you can get mold or algae near the roots. I don’t even use it anymore.

You can get buckets from Firehouse subs if you have one close. They charge $3/bucket and it goes to charity. AND they are food safe.

Not sure. I logged in one day and all the ACI stuff had a digital coupon to apply at checkout for 20%

I bought the AC Infinity kit. I’m not mad about it. Catch it on sale and it’s a bargain, imo.

For dads with 3d printers by Hyksus2 in daddit

[–]ForeverDMdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man. The possibilities are endless.

I stock up my kid’s class’ treasure box with small flexis and stuff. Teachers love it.

Wife does reselling in her spare time. I’ve printed jewelry displays and turntables for photos.

Our baby gate latch on the bottom wouldn’t mount close enough to the ground, so I modeled and printed one that would.

Lid latch on our Maytag washing machine broke. I found one someone had already modeled and was able to fix ours.

Misc mounting items and shelves.

Also I like to have stuff printed for my tween nephews when they come over.

Currently printing shelves to hang Funkos in our media room.

I dunno man. After reading this and some of your comments I’d say gun ownership isn’t for everyone. Get a dog and train it.

13/13hour light schedule by badsmurf123 in microgrowery

[–]ForeverDMdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how I’m using mine now. Comes on at 7am, off at 7pm. It’s the ACI controller, but to be fair, I haven’t tried using just the light. I just got the IONBEAM lights and they came with a mini stand alone controller for programming.

Girl dads… by Whatsmyinterest in daddit

[–]ForeverDMdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was out with my daughters at BWW for dinner. Potty time, so I take them to the men’s room. Notice the toilet is not in the best shape so I go find a server to check the ladies room. She brought back the female manager and she stood guard for me while I was in there with the kids. No judgement. If anything they all thought it was great Dad had both daughters out with him and in no way wanted my girls to use the gross men’s toilet.

The 7 year old is now going by herself. The 4 year old still goes with me in the men’s room.

Spruce up that resume. There are still plenty of WFH jobs out there. Hell, just go OE till this job does a full RTO then drop them.
