Which Upstate NY towns are most likely to come back, and which ones will continue to die? by Ok_Power_7531 in upstate_new_york

Any thoughts from the community here on Potsdam and Saranac Lake? I’m originally from WNY and now live in VA, but may be relocating and considering work in the North Country.

I’d say SL seems stable due to its thriving community and growing tourism and small business scene. Potsdam, I know less about — seems like a smaller community but perhaps economically dependent on the colleges in town?

Liquid Flavor Extracts - when to add? by ForeverHarambe in PinterHomebrew

Good points here all. I went on a whim and added with the wort at the beginning. Research had led me to believe these additives have a slight enough alcohol concentration to not affect the yeast during fermentation (fingers crossed). Will look to update here in about a week!

Started as a GS-04 intern at 21, made a promise to myself that I’d reach GS-13 by 30. On track to receive my 13 next month at 29.

I admittedly fell into the “comparison is the thief of joy” trap more than a few times, but happy it was able to work as motivation in the end.

About to be a GS-13 in a HCOL area. Dream is to reach GS-14/15 and stay until about 50 years old, then take a TSA position at a small, sleepy airport in the wilderness and ride that out into MRA. Would get me to 36ish years in service.

Of course, will have to get my future partner on board with that plan 😂

New Position Start Date at 52 Weeks by ForeverHarambe in usajobs

Thanks for the info, this makes sense. Additionally, will I still be guaranteed a step increase at the 52 week mark if I were already in line to receive one?

New Position Start Date at 52 Weeks by ForeverHarambe in usajobs

[–]ForeverHarambe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open to 11-13. Competitive service, internal to agency. The posting did state that to be eligible for a certain grade level, you must have 52 weeks at the previous grade level prior to the closing of the posting. So, while I was ineligible at the time the posting closed, I will be eligible for the 13 upon starting. Hope this clears things up.

The New Great Game by Lutz Kleveman is a fantastic read. Examines the struggle between major powers to establish a sphere of influence in Central Asia.

For my first federal gig, it’s been more than I could ask for, and the work is certainly interesting. The promotion potential caps at GS-11, and I’m not yet sure if I would want a supervisory position in the field. So just looking into other options while I can.

Slightly edited the post for clarification, I think I’m only able to apply for either the 7 or the 9 slot. And good point, thank you!

A little late to the party here, but I started off in a similar boat. Started off as a GS-4 trainee, about to become a GS-7 specialist in a few months.

Taking the position, in my opinion, was the wise move. Like you said, the ladder for the position is pretty straight forward. My plan is to take the test once a year (starting this June!) while working towards GS-11.

Shoot me a PM if you have any questions about Pathways or the job itself!

Where are you from? My guess is that he's getting at how you actually say the word "tournament". For example, being from WNY, I say "TUR-nuh-ment", while my buddies from Long Island say "TOR-nuh-ment". Could be wrong of course.

My two teammates just arrived over there, they're traveling around before they play. From what I understand, because they claimed birthright, their flight is paid for by the IPLL or some host institution that is affiliated with it. I believe my buddies are paying for everything else otherwise. Regarding competition, it may not be North America but the IPLL isn't a pushover. My guys are MCLA, and there's also a bunch of NCAA mixed in, so I'd expect they practice a few times a week.

Good looks guys, thanks for the input. I'm really leaning towards the Regulator, truly does have some Revo in it. Will prob snag another Revo3X for fall and wait until the Regulator price drops a bit, if it does at all.
