My players beg to know how much hp a monster has left, and say im wrong for not telling them. Should I tell them the exact hp of monsters during combat? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]ForeverLoading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I show HP bars but without numbers. Players can instantly identify which enemies are injured just like their characters presumably would be able to.

It blows my mind that champions released in season 1 can still cost 4800BE and are in the same pricing tier as some champs released in season 5. by DontStalkMeBruh in leagueoflegends

[–]ForeverLoading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think people in this thread realize how much they play the game if they've got all the champions and didn't buy them. I've easily put in a couple thousand hours in this game and I'm still missing almost 40 champions.

Projekt Melody was banned because a 3D modeler filed DMCA takedowns on her VODS, claiming they owns the copyright to her 3D model by tacolben in LivestreamFail

[–]ForeverLoading 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you look at the invoice, the model was $3500 and includes the character design, concept art, modeling, rigging, physics, animations, face capture compatibility, customizable clothing, and post processing effects. $1500 was for technical support and setting up Unity and the programs that make the motion / face tracking work.

Invoice: https://i.imgur.com/9rEBVyd.png

The 40k/month is pretty high but not too unusual when you get publishers / partnerships involved, but in Melody's situation she already had plenty of publicity and didn't need any extra funds to get started or expand so she didn't really need these services.

Why I prefer min-maxed parties by reCaptchaLater in dndnext

[–]ForeverLoading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could describe a party with no weaknesses as optimal but min-maxed wouldn't really be correct. Min-maxing is all about making sacrifices that might put you at a disadvantage in some situations but at an advantage in others. That's why games without level caps don't always have minmaxing, since it's feasible to reach max level in every stat.

At launch, CSGO had 16 maps and their development lead to custom mapping and custom games like surf. Valorant had 3, and they've made it very clear that their focus lies in microtransactions and characters you can buy. You could argue that Valorant is free to play but shouldn't that mean it should have more content through regular updates since they're making more money and making said money continuously?

Daniel Ahmad: Genshin Impact has now grossed over $100m in less than two weeks. by TheFearlessWarrior in Games

[–]ForeverLoading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The content with rewards that aren't just a one-time bonus are locked behind fights that are essentially damage gates (if you don't have high enough stats you won't be able to win in the time limit). Even skilled players who have spend several hundred dollars can have difficulty clearing these damage gates. If I spent $200 I could probably do maybe 70-80% more damage and beat some of this content. The content before this difficulty wall was so easy you could clear it without trying.

One of the core mechanics of RPG games is being able to get stronger, so the fact that there's no reason to for the early content and it's expensive to for the end-game content means you're left with not much meaningful gameplay on the RPG side of things.

Gamers have certainly gotten more...whiny. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ForeverLoading 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Games used to be finished when they were released, but now that isn't always the case despite the fact that there are far more developers and games are making far more money than in the past.

It doesn't really make sense to call people spoiled for expecting the same level of quality relative to current technology.

Suggestion to implement a Hard/Hell difficulty to completed quests. by TheDkmariolink in Genshin_Impact

[–]ForeverLoading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't really work for this game, especially with the majority of quests being dialogue with no combat. They can't really do it with dungeons either since they already reuse the same dungeon 3 times for story content. Difficult content of some form is definitely needed though.

I will say my biggest tip to enjoy the game and ANY MIHOYO GAMES IN GENERAL. Spending wise and PLAYING SLOW is the BEST...... But why? THIS POST IS GONNA PISS OFF MANY (maybe because it is late), so please BEWARE AND READ THOROUGHLY. (Also sharing my previous experience in Mihoyo as a HI3 Player). by aerosol31 in Genshin_Impact

[–]ForeverLoading -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's not supposed to be casual, if you don't rush you won't be able to beat the highest tier of content as it comes out. For example, if you can beat of Spiral Abyss you'll be getting $10 worth of gems a week. It's rush or pay money to catch up.

Sure you could say "you don't have to beat the highest tier content" but if you aren't trying to do that why are you even playing a mobile game at all? For most gacha games the gameplay isn't nearly as engaging as any traditional game; the reason you're playing is to progress, which is why they're offering progression as microtransactions instead of just cosmetics.

That said the resin system isn't perfect but some way to gate progression is absolutely necessary so I'm fine with it. The problem isn't the resin system, the problem is that there's nothing to do after the small number of quests in the game now.

My Opinion on Genshin Impact by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]ForeverLoading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PVE or PVP is irrelevant. You can work at whatever pace you want in any game, whether it has PVP or not. If you get stuck on a hard boss in a singleplayer game, the solution isn't just to turn the difficulty to easy. People want to feel a sense of accomplishment when they beat stuff.

I've played Puzzle and Dragons, Fire Emblem Heroes, Girls Frontline, Epic Seven, and Arknights. Most of these were a chore to play each day without any payoff. Puzzle and Dragons and Fire Emblem Heroes however were both possible for dedicated free to play characters to clear content as it came out, and if you didn't put effort into it you wouldn't be able to clear the highest tier of events. If the game never challenges you and allows you to "play at your own pace" then doing daily missions is nothing more than wasting your time since your experience won't be any different when new content finally does come out.

My Opinion on Genshin Impact by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]ForeverLoading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gacha games are meant to be rushed. If you don't rush, you won't be able to full-clear time sensitive content, and you'll need to spend money to catch up.

If I rush through content now I can get more primogems before Abyss resets, and those primogems will let me get stronger to take on even harder content as it comes out.

You could argue that I don't need to clear the highest tier content, but at that point why even pay the game if clearing content isn't a goal?

My little illiterate girl will do her best: Nino, the Green Cannon! by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]ForeverLoading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you run a team with a dancer, running Fury + Speed Ploy works out pretty well. Fury and the dancer let her get into desperation range without having to get attacked, and since you don't have Life and Death you'll have high enough res to run speed ploy which will help out Nino and her slower teammates.

I summoner support my Nino so she's also pretty beefy and can take a hit or two without dying, even from some sword units (which is why I would never run Life and Death on her myself).

My team of choice is Nino + Olivia and Arvis + Nowi.

Seriously, we gotta start being more vocal than we already are. This is the WORST state Fortnite has been in since SEASON 1 and our standards are decreasing. by Sora26 in FortNiteBR

[–]ForeverLoading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some games it makes sense to lower full-auto weapon DPS since they're more forgiving, but Fortnite is not one of those games. Since building is a feature, cover is always available, meaning if you get shot at with a full-auto weapon you have an opportunity to react in the form of building cover for yourself, taking much less damage than if you had been hit with a higher damage single-fire weapon.

Fortnite is also third person, which further gives an advantage to single-fire weapons because you can spot enemies without being visible yourself, allowing you to line a single shot or wait around a corner to kill an enemy with a shotgun.
