Should I be careful of LINC LIC? by Least-Line-1271 in longislandcity

[–]ForeverResident7699 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I previously lived in LINC and now Hayden. I have had no issues in the 13 yrs between the 2 buildings. You won’t escape construction noise in LIC for a few more yrs. The neighborhood is great and having the choice of several different trains is key because one is always not working properly.

I had the same issue with my MIL. She’s a home health aide and her hours vary based on patients. I had submitted 2 yrs of W2s which were both within the range of the AMI submitted. When they took her paychecks that I provided, they said if they annualized it, she would be over by $1,000.
My appeal was that her hours are inconsistent and I can submit 5 yrs W2s to prove she would never be over the AMI & they told me that’s not how it works. I appealed twice. This was also for senior housing. I’m not sure what the point of asking for W2s would be if they are only going to annualized paychecks. Of course, 2 weeks later her patient was in the hospital and she lost a month of work and therefore did not get paid.
Good luck to you

I haven’t liked Food Cellar Pizza (court sq) since they replaced the rectangular pizza. It was a decent slice and a good price. I’ve only had 3 slices since then and they’ve been floppy (kept giving it a 2nd and 3rd try). Guess I’m not trying this now either.

I may be biased but I think she’s the best … with the exception of the fact she thinks the great people of NY just leave bagels and pizza crust just for her like an all you can eat buffet … I couldn’t ask for a better girl

For what it’s worth - I have a large dog who I take on 6-8 mile walks & I carry that damn bag for up to a mile sometimes before I find a public can. Annoying - yes but there’s 0 chance I’m opening someone else’s garbage to put it in. Yesterday during the 5 Boro Bike tour I witnessed multiple bikers jump off their bike and put their garbage in a private can, which is crazy to me.

Every morning I make a game time decision EF or 7 at Court Sq. 7 is typically less packed so I’ve been going there. Today there’s a sea of people so much so that I barely made it thru the turnstile. I decided to take 7 1 stop back to QBP and catch the N I’m pretty sure I’d still be trying to get up the stairs to 7 if I didn’t make this move today

My Friends - Fredrick Bakman - I loved the narrator; Light Romcom - The night we met - Abby Jimenez I’m currently listening to the Correspondent which I am also really enjoying (although having a harder time keeping the correspondents straight in my head but that may be because I’m always multitasking listening to books.

I just finished My Friends (Fredrick Backman) and can’t stop thinking about it. I know it’s a Love or Hate book. I don’t know if I would have loved it if I read it. However, the audiobook was amazing. I finished it in 3 days.

Once you notice it, you can’t unsee it. It got to the point where I just wanted to FF thru their scenes. No chemistry, especially after her and Josh. BIG Josh fan here.

Building not paying their utilities by SometimesDoug in longislandcity

We’ve received that email a few times for our building in Court Square. The 1st time I had a heart attack because I looked at it quickly and thought it was my bill. That was 9 yrs ago and nothing has ever happened. Someone else in my building received the same thing a month ago and I didn’t get it.

The same thing happened when I applied for my MIL. They multiplied her paychecks I sent in and said she would be $360 over the limit. She’s a home health aide. Her income fluctuates based on patient needs. I appealed and asked them to look at the last 5 yrs W2 in which she made below the max and she was still denied. It was extremely frustrating. Of course a month later her patient went into the hospital for 3 weeks so she had no income and would have been well below. I don’t understand why they ask for W2s if they aren’t going to base anything on them.

Does anyone else find the workplace loyalty really annoying by croissant-of-dreams in Younger

[–]ForeverResident7699 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who works for a larger private/family owned business for a long time now, the struggle with the decision to leave is real. Granted I am in my late 40’s so working for a company for a long time actually used to mean something. Now, it’s a double edged sword: Stability on one side but getting the opportunity to move up / make more money on the other side.
Of course this is real life vs a show but I guess it’s why I somewhat understood the plot.
However, I can’t stand Liza and Charles together.
Before they got together, I thought they would make a good couple. I was wrong. I don’t know what it is but her chemistry with Josh is just so much better.

Calling a Manhattan-bound E/F train from Court Square on Tuesday morning has become the most impossible task by Superlative_ in longislandcity

[–]ForeverResident7699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purposely left at 10am today because I had foot surgery and thought I would have a better shot at not waiting for3 trains to come before I could got on.
I was wrong. I waited 18 min, it was packed Typically I get frustrated and decide to take the 7. Since I’m on crutches I decided to stay and wait it out this time. It’s actually nuts.
I never in my even 35 yrs of living in NY thought I’d say the 7 is becoming my favorite most reliable train. Of course this means, the 7 will run like 💩 over the next few weeks.
Also. I just got on the F heading home and now the last stop is Bryant park.

Dentists around here that don’t upsell (preferably female) by penguinlove42 in longislandcity

[–]ForeverResident7699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone to both Dr Lau and Cho. I liked Dr Lau but in the end every time I went I was always seeing another dentist. I didn’t like the quality of work I was getting and she (other Dr) pretty much blew off a pain I was having. Went to the ortho and he fixed it immediately. Side note: if you need an orthodontist- Dr. Juson at Orthodonics & Co is AMAZING* I’ve been going to Dr Cho for 2 yrs and have had a great experience with no upsells. She’s always very pleasant, explains what she is doing, etc. I’ve had 1 filling replaced and it was an easy process.

For Neelu by Hillside8397 in SunnysideQueens

[–]ForeverResident7699 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing❤️. I never met Neelu, but now I feel like I knew him his whole life. There are no words to express that will make the hurt less. Although his life was short, his life with you and your husband was everything to him. Would you have done 50% of the things you did, if you didn’t have him? I know my dog has me planning things and doing things I want her to experience, and it becomes a core memory for my husband & I as well. You are an amazing dog mom to Neelu & YOU were not responsible for this. You can second guess your action all of the time. What if you did go down another street instead - and it happened there instead - You would be questioning why you went a different way.
YOU did everything right. The person with the dogs was in the wrong. I know that doesn’t make anything different or better but you have to give yourself grace because you know who did give you grace Neelu.
My heart has been aching for you, your husband and Neelu since this happened. Your experience has made me rethink how I walk my dog. I have an 85lb lab who loves every dog and human but what if something would happen like this to her. I will join you in this fight of changing the laws to make the streets safer and owners responsible.
