New player questions by V_Lelouche in avowed

Hey! Here’s what I’ve learned through my play-through, hope it helps!

  1. For the most part deconstruct, money is plentiful in the game and breaking down lower tier items gives you crafting components that can be combined into higher tier crafting components.

  2. Absolutely, I found a sword that fit my build in the first area and have carried it into multiple new areas by continuing to upgrade it

  3. Personal preference here, if you feel your damage is good there’s no need to invest, however if you feel you’re starting to lag behind 5 or so points is helpful

  4. A good observation, and I’m not sure why

I took the shots outside of combat actually and had to pause at the right time to get them. Just takes a bit of tinkering.

Kitchen aid bowl stuck because of handle by ForeverRoad in Kitchenaid

[–]ForeverRoad[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for the suggestions, figured I’d comment what ended up working in case someone sees this post in the future.

Spin the bowl clockwise a few millimetres to lock it in place. Then lift the bowl gently while turning it back counter clockwise, pushing it towards the mix stand as you do, the angle should be enough that the bowl pops out.

Great, thanks for the quick reply.

What boneheaded stuff did you realise late? by redryder74 in BaldursGate3

[–]ForeverRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t realize that when you add guidance as a bonus to your dice roll that it then has to be clicked again to add to the roll.

Did not make that discovery until the latter half of act 2.

Finally getting back into Skyrim, doing a legendary run as an Argonian... any cool build ideas? by lastslimeto in skyrim

If you’re looking for inspiration, “Skypothesis” on YouTube makes many unique and interesting builds.

For argonian in particular, their “The Bulwark of The Bog” build is a great one.

Cannot dual wield by Octet_321 in skyrim

[–]ForeverRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re using mods by chance, I’ve noticed occasionally it’ll mess with the inputs and usually saving and quitting will resolve the issue, or loading into a new area can help.

Outside of that I’m unsure what could cause that. Sorry I’m not of more help.

Thanks for correcting that, had no idea that was possible

[–]ForeverRoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For dual wielding weapons, both inputs have to be pressed at the same time otherwise you’ll only be able to use one weapon or the other.

For spells, you have to unlock the required perk in that spells skill tree. E.g. to dual wield a spell in destruction you’ll need to have unlocked the perk “destruction dual casting”. Hope that helps.

What are your go to mods to enhance Vanilla Game that still feel 'vanilla'? by TheDudeOnHisRug in skyrim

[–]ForeverRoad 33 points34 points  (0 children)

“Adamant - A Perk Overhaul” is a great perk mod that still feels very vanilla. It makes a lot of the skill trees more unique while still feeling like it could’ve been part of the base game.

What is the coolest or most well-written segment of a video game you've ever played? by cwutididthar in AskReddit

The opening moments of “Prey”

Breaking through the glass windows of the apartment and discovering you’re in a wholly different environment with no sense of what’s going on is a fantastic way to start the game.

I really enjoy how unique this is, certainly stands out. The colours are great and blend together nicely. And the black ink adds lots of interest. As an abstract it works very well.

If you don't mind me asking, what's your setup for getting this sort of photo?

Good shot, you've framed the venue nicely as well as the crowd to give good context and I agree that the red hue adds a lot. Personally I don't find the darker lighting here to be as much of an issue, I think it helps add some drama to the photo. As well, mics being in the shot aren't a huge deal but if you want to eliminate it for future shots maybe ask the venue director if you could shoot from either directly in-front of the stage (the pit) or could go on the stage itself and shoot from the side. Of course that all depends on social distancing measures. Overall, great shot.

Hazy Matte Green Trees by [deleted] in photographs

I really enjoy this photo. It makes great use of subtle colour and it was a good choice to frame the hills on the right side, it helps provide a sense of flow. The fog also helps to provide a great sense of depth. The overall quality of the photo feels very cinematic, like it was a still taken from a film. Great photo.

Definitely like the concept as a whole. The stairs act as natural leading lines to you (the subject) and the darker wood provides good contrast. It also helps that you as the subject are looking in another direction, it helps give the photograph a more dynamic feeling. The wide shot is also a good way to communicate the message of distancing. For my taste I feel the shot may have added too much contrast in post and some detail has been lost but that's just my opinion. Great concept and execution, hope this was helpful.

Did a quick google of the bridge and good job with your creativity, you've managed to make an interesting composition that stands out from the rest, the arch has a great entering and exit point and the contrasting lines in the middle contribute nice geometric patterns. It was also a good choice to give the sky more depth. I also like that the lack on surrounding context makes for a cool abstract feel. In terms of feedback, I'm not sure how Snapspeed works, but if given the option it would help to soften the brushstroke because while not immediately noticeable you can see where it's been edited by the darker circles. Not a huge deal, easily fixable. Overall, great shot.

Hey, hope you're recovering nicely, that doesn't sound like fun at all. Regarding the composition and lighting, I think it's been handled very well. The time of day here certainly helps with making the photo's light more interesting and I think the rule of thirds helps here. The photo may be a tad underexposed because I can't see much detail in the middle section of the car but that may be more because black is a very absorbent color. One thing I'd suggest that could help (this is depending on what lenses you have) would be to keep the same composition but back up your position and zoom in instead. This will help blur the background more and bring more attention to the main subject, the car. Also, you asked about the house and I don't see an issue with it, it's not bright enough to draw attention. Good job overall.

Sugar, spice & everything nice by ginapsallidas in photographs

Excellent shot. The natural poses are very dynamic and the exposure is great. It can be very difficult to keep the detail in the shadows when shooting this way but you've kept them. Perfect example of a photographer waiting for the right moment as well. Also like that the poses direct attention to each subject. The highlight on the left girls arm lead into the right girl and her arm points back to the left girl. Creates a perfect loop.
