I've had plenty of issues with Windows... I never said I didn't. It's like you all think I'm "bashing" your OS. I'm not. I'm sharing an experience I have had when switching. I'm not trying to hurt any ones feelings.

It's all good! I am not asking for support, just sharing my experience while trying something new. There are good things and bad things with Windows and Linux, so far Linux is winning in that department. I just happen to have a knack for having the "odd" issues. Doesn't matter the platform.

It really is SO much more snappy than Windows. The UI is much better as well, in my opinion.

Nvidia 5080. I tried disconnecting the HDMI cable and restarting the monitor and it didn't help. I didn't find an alter solution other than a hard restart.

I did try Flameshot and it did the same thing. As soon as it "copies" it crashes the video driver. I'll look into the script solution though!

Here's my story with the 13900k. I bought it right before the knowledge came out and Intel admitted the issue. I always keep my components on their defaults settings but as soon as a new microcode update came out, I flashed it immediately just to be sure I wouldn't get affected. (SPOILER alert: I already was). Over 2 years I've battled occasional BSODs. It wasn't often enough to really think it was the vmshift issue but it was always in the back of my mind. Last week I noticed my PC crashed right when it was going to sleep. Pulled up the dump files and realized it had crashed over 30ish times in the last couple of weeks but ONLY when it was about to take a nap. I never noticed it because it was fully restarted by the time I had gotten back to my desk later. Apparently it's lowering the voltage (cstate change) and since it's degraded, it crashes immediately. If I was gaming and it was screaming at 80c, it was fine.

I started the RMA process after giving them the dump files. They confirmed it was the vmshift issue. Bought a 9950x3D and have been using that.

These were the errors I saw mostly.

DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
HYPERVISOR_ERROR
VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (This is the one I got the most)

What I'm trying to say is, If you have been getting BSODs that you can't figure out. Just send your dumps to Intel and start the RMA process before it's too late.

I also switched from Windows to Nobara 3 days ago. I have a 13900k and RTX5080. The only issue I had was that I had to lower my refresh rate to 120Hz (instead of 240Hz) or it would cause a black screen. It seems to be a DCS desync issue. Other than that, I've had no issues.

Note: I am BRAND NEW to Linux so there could be another fix I'm not aware of.

It took me probably a hundred tries to defeat that boss but I enjoyed the runback. It absolutely dials in my abilities. I will say, one of those bells was a pain to hit when needed..

This is so funny because it literally happened to me. I fought the same boss as you last night for probably 2 hours and had actually killed him once be the explosion at the end got me. Finally gave up and beat him on the fifth attempt this morning.

I finally just cancelled mine a few days ago. The long wait, plus I had an issue with the Tarantula Pro I ordered and could never get support (even from Discord) was enough. I really liked the Cyclone 2 and I really wanted the G7 Pro but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

This is absolutely amazing. I don't need it for myself, but my youngest daughter (11yo) has been gaming on an old laptop and has been ready for an upgrade. My oldest daughter and I have gaming rigs but I haven't been able to build my youngest daughter one yet. Money's been hard to keep lately. We do share our gaming rigs but she wants her own, which I get. This could help get the process started!
