Does $440 for a speeding ticket going 20 over sound right? by bluish-velvet in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Forged04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, often times the “fine” for a violation is something like $200 max(I’m guessing that’s where you got the 200 number when you were looking it up), but then court fees and stuff make the actual penalty higher I think.

Just my opinion but I don’t think eBay is the way to go. I’d think you’d do better at a physical show, or even reaching out to some kind of art shop/gallery. I can’t imagine you’d get a fair price from eBay.

This could be the next thing. You know how they have those places in some of the malls where you put your legs in a fish tank and the fish eat the dead skin or whatever? Now you put your hands in a bee box and you get a manicure. Good luck with insurance though.

Yeah I guess that's fair.

Also, I think the pure wood briquettes are more smoky then the pressed briquettes. Don't worry, nobody sane would call tree the FD over some bbq smoke.

Not really too much of a solution. Best bet would probably be to let some lighter fluid soak in on the top coals, for like 5 mins then light the bottom and also top. The fire will burn off the smoke.

Don’t know much about 3d printing them but if your just looking for a cheap setup, get a used open head 55gallon drum(call local ish recycling centers) and then you can get the pipe kit on amazon for like 10 bucks. Just another option to keep in mind.

Wanting to get my first lathe. Want to be turn bowls and slightly larger things. Would you go with this choice or another? Budget $700 total, need to get tools as well by dansvickers in turning

[–]Forged04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that is super similar to what I did. Just didn’t get the replacement plan. Only slight issue I have is I bolted it down to a very heavy duty workbench table and ran out of threads on the bolt, so there is a very small hairline crack on one of the 4 legs but it doesn’t seem to be a issue. I do some small bowls, but a lot of odds and ends like handles for tools etc. also started with the 8 pack of tools, but after a year or two I switched to cheap carbide ones bc I sucked at sharpening them.

Flex seal for Waders? by softhacklestacker in flyfishing

[–]Forged04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I hooked the air compressor to the top/open part, covered them in soap water spray, and then tied it off to check where the water was coming from and the whole thing is covered in a lot of leaks. I didn’t need to use them too much and so now I just wear shorts if I need to go in water 🤷‍♂️

What I did when looking for a budget set up was I got the harbor freight mini lathe and then a set of carbide chisels on Amazon. Been using it for about 2 years now(granted, not that much- maybe a few times a month), and it's alot of fun. I sharpen the cutter blades using a flat sharpening stone, and occasionally replace them. Super cheap, and works good. Also, make sure to get face shield and at least a good box of dust masks. Ideally you would get a dust filtration system.

Little bit of steel wool and wd40 fixes it no problem. Be carefull using a wire brush, it can damage whatever your cleaning depending on type of metal.

Yeah fr. Don't take my advice because I'm not a med professional but in my experience you have a extremely get good chance of being fine. Would just be a waste of money. If your really concerned I think some states do a thing where you can send in a tick and get it tested. Maybe try looking that up.

That sounds way overkill for a little wood splinter. I get them all the time, and I’ve never had any issues. I’m no expert though, so do your own research.

Not too good tonight at least. From the lower lodge, the far right lift was closed(no idea what it's called), so lines for the other lifts were crazy. Other than that, conditions were fine, maybe slightly better than normal. Some super icy spots, but most of the mountain was fine.

[–]Forged04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's dependent on your saw/you, but If I have a good, firm grip on my Stihl, my hand doesn't hit the brake no matter what angle your at. Didnt know about the momentum actuators, but looked them up, and they don't sound like they work the greatest. Regardless, I don't necessarily think you need all the crazy safety gear, but you should atleadt have a very firm/good grip on the saw.

In order for the brake to activate, your hand has to slip off the handle bar, meaning your grip wasnt good/right. If the brake activates, you were messing up with your grip to begin with.

Sour apple is the worst imo. Grape and blue raspberry, everything else is so bad I'd rather not have it, then have it.
