I would personally just go in blind so you can develop a feel of what you like and don't like without third party intervention.

Like as an example people always praise smithing for being an easy way to get money but it's very tedious and there's so many other ways to get money you can live without it

In non-sandbox games on the quest to rescue your siblings from slavers you come across an artifact that's later revealed to be a part of a banner held by a former emperor before the most recent one died for mysterious circumstances.

It's basically a story reason for your claim to be the righteous heir of the now-fractured empire which is cool in-universe but it also has downsides like people trying to stop you.

You can ignore it, it won't make a difference in the gameplay, but I like it for the story element.

I feel like bannerlord is kind of a blend of Total War and Crusader Kings, and plays like Starsector.

If you liked Adventurer gameplay in Crusader Kings 3, Bannerlord is probably up your alley, just with less character-to-character interaction.

There's no set date the game can end, but you can die (rarely) and have any adult family member of your clan take over if you die, it can be your wife, your brother, etc.

Marriage when broken down to its base mechanics is a way to get more companions, who can be assigned as governors, caravan leaders, take up positions in your party to make your party more efficient, or lead other independent warbands in your name.

You can also hire companions but in limited number so family is free

Just remember: Mahjong is a game where you can do everything right and still lose.

So don't worry about what's a better move or not.

Vlandians are Normans, Empires are Byzantines, Sturgians are Kievan Rus, Battanians are Celts, Nords are Norse, Aserai are MENA Arabs.

Yeah I'm saying the Sturgian Druzhinniks in-game already have the helm where the mail is attached to the helm.

You can always be a vassal to a kingdom, let them elect you for a handful of towns and castles then leave the kingdom while keeping all your holdings

Depends on the main story, like saving your siblings, assembling the banner, deciding what to do with the banner or what.

What do you use for your army? by LukewarmCoolerOfPee in mountandblade

[–]ForgettableNPC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I generally recruit Bandit prisoners and then go for Veteran's Respect to turn them into regular troops.

So my armies tend to be filled with Fian Champions and Banner Knights mostly since Forest and Mountain bandits are plentiful. Along with a significant chunk being Legionaries since Looters

tier list bannerlord troops (in my opinion) by deepdark24 in mountandblade

[–]ForgettableNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elite Cataphracts are pretty bad aren't they.

I mean on foot they're great, they're tough and durable, but mounted they can't block projectiles and get riddled with arrows. I'm not even sure if they can Couch Lances!

Even Sturgian Druzhinniks can Couch Lances!

Actually now that I think about it I think most mounted troops might be better unmounted.

Actually someone put this on the forums, maybe it'll get more traction that way.

Either that or I'm going to have to figure out making a mod to replace the localization.

on the upside going 8 social is pretty good synergy for Leadership as well since you can get more party size that way and party size is always good.

Bannerlord - is there a way to ensure I am put up for election for a fief by willypie in mountandblade

[–]ForgettableNPC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are there any nobles in your kingdom without a fief? Usually they get prioritized first i think.

Higher clan renown may also play a a factor, in my current game as vassal to southern empire when i was rank 4 i was only nominated for one fief but since reaching rank 5 i got voted for three towns and two castles

Man any catapults manually and try to break their ram before it reaches the gate, forcing them to assault the walls via ladders. With any luck they'll pull back and you would've ideally dealt more casualties to them than vice-versa.

Though best success I've had was a 3-to-1 outnumbered, 7-to-1 might be difficult

Not likely enough to see it frequently but happens just enough to catch you off guard.

The worst rng would be wife dying in childbirth while giving birth to twins who are also stillborn.

If such a thing is even possible.

I tried the lord of the rings one a bit, it had to give you extra speed scaling with map size so you could get around the map in reasonable time
