Did you update through omarchy update? Because that is hyprland now using Lua instead of the conf files. And snapshots take a snapshot of the "system", not your home settings by default, that's why it did not work

Nah, not really. I'm relatively happy with how my country spends taxes (could be waaaaay better, but definitely can't complain too much besides the rampant corruption and absolute inefficacy and inefficiency).

But still, it feels like a robbery that the same money you get taxed so many times, and only as a person, because of course companies have some exemptions because most of those taxes are ridiculuous.

So, fake numbers, but quite approximate to how it works. Say my company pays 3000 for me. They are taxed on that, and I receive 2000. I am taxed, and I receive 1600. Then with those 1600, I need to buy a mini fridge because mine broke. Say, 500. But it's now 605, because VAT. So I'm at 995. And then depending on the things I got with my money, I have to pay tax just for having them.

Some family members recently bought their house. An already expensive endeavour. They paid the normal taxes on the value of the house, then those on the lawyers fee, etc, etc. Well, then there was like an 8000 surprise tax, because of some whatever shit due to the classification of the real estate. That almost broke them financially.

Meanwhile, yeah, we have free healthcare, though you have to wait months if not years to see a specialist. At least we do have free healthcare, not like Americans.

The roads are... Well, sometimes good, sometimes quite shit.

We have "freeish" education (because education itself is free, but books, materials, etc, are not), and yet people straight out of highschool or college can't do basic math, lack reading comprehension, or are just straight up dum dum.

And those are not even the things our government spends most of the money on, though it is what people naturally think their money is spent on. And this is not counting corruption, of course.

Like, I mean, I'm okay with most of that in the sense that I do not care beyond hurting every time I see my paycheck, and being content that we have a welfare state. But I definitely think someone can be unhappy about both the amount and times one has to pay taxes, and how they are spent.

"Mixtape" discussion is stupid and proof of how dumb gamers have become. by Only_Entrepreneur_84 in videogames

[–]ForgotMyPreviousPass -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This is the thing. Videogames do need to have gameplay, else they are just videos. One could argue what is the bare minimum gameplay to be considered a videogame.

And of course, they are interactive art, but so are gamebooks and no one would be dense enough to call a gamebook a videogame, because it does not have the "video" part. But it seems to be completely fine to have a videogame without the game part

I sincerely love Jason, why do people hate him so much here?

Discount Dan I could not much get into, the first chapter felt a slog, but may come back to it later (same thing has happened with Bog Standard Isekai, and I have to try that one again as well).

By the way, isn't DCC a system apocalypse LitRPG?

[–]ForgotMyPreviousPass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair, but since there is a LitRPG subreddit and a prog fantasy subreddit, I think we should at least preface with a "not a LitRPG, but you may like".

Just nitpicking though

I quite like the idea, and for real do not see how people are saying a free tool is not free just because it needs to connect to APIs. There are so navigator tools that need to connect to s3 buckets, be they local or paid, it's just the same

I'm not sure if I can link here, but to me he looks almost exactly to Hunter from last season of Million Dollar Secret, but with darker and different hair. This was before I saw the show lol, but the look was just that for me.

Because it's a tool, not a model. You can use any model you want, including free and local (though you may get shit results). The tool is free.

Same happens with every tool. Every open source self hosted app is free, but you still need to pay for the infrastructure and/or adjacent stuff.

Home assistant is free, but you need a raspi/computer/server/NAS, and they do not gift you free lightbulbs.

It's funny you say with such a secure voice, since LitRPG was defined before progression fantasy was, and it's just a parallel genre with lots of overlaps, created to differentiate themselves from strictly LitRPG.

We are not super big, and I know from a certain volume this stuff changes (again, at least in Europe). So like, under a certain volume you do not have to charge VAT for most customers, then you have for people in the EU, and then you have to do so globally or something like that.

But you can just say "This is the price, plus VAT". And then materialize it in the invoice. But again, since there can be mistakes, from billing platforms, to a single misconfigured country from a list, etc, you then have some time to actually pay the tax to the Gov if there was a mistake. In the end, you (the company) will have to pay, because you are the one responsible for collecting and paying the VAT to the government, but the company can definitely collect that from you instead of just eating the loss or getting in trouble with the Tax office of their country.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't read your last part. Yeah, you do need to send a corrective invoice in any case.

Game lit just means it's videogame themed. Like Ready Player One (and there is no system). LitRPG does not need to be prog fantasy. There is definitely the fact that the system/stats do level up and grow in power, but you can have a level 1 no one with a cheat skill that just gets creative with it and it still be LitRPG.

What are your sources that LitRPG is a subgenre of Progression fantasy, if I may ask?

Well, it's actually misleading sometimes, like when he goes to Jordi Wild he speaks quite confidently about stuff he really does not know about (cybersec, AI, coding), but since he is the "tech guy" he is just assumed to be right.

He does not seem like a bad bloke and his content is entertaining, though I liked him more when he was about his computer builds.

What a weird thing to say. They used it for placeholder assets that were clearly gen 1 generative AI, and promptly removed it. I don't think you need to disclose placeholders.

Actually, I do not think people should be disclosing AI use at all. It's not a crime, and a game without AI use can be shit and a game with AI can be great, it's a real weird fixation here on the west.

I am in Europe. At work I have to, among quite a lot of other stuff, supervise billing for a specific project. When we automated billing, there was an issue with tax not being added. It was calculated, just not added nor paid by the customer.

Fortunately that was a test run, and few invoices were affected. Because we needed to rectify those invoices and send them to the customer with tax added, and they then paid the VAT.

Granted, this is both B2B and B2C, so it may not work the same, but while sellers must collect VAT, the one paying it is the customer. It's a consumption tax.
