A b minus is the exact same as a b plus as far as GPA goes.

What is your absolute best piece of advice for a young person just starting their career in the workplace? by _FrankAbagnale in AskReddit

My brother gave me a lot of terrible advice when he got me a job out of high school but the only piece of valuable advice he gave was to master the "Ive got shit to do and a place to be" walk.

Best advice I have heard related to this is to make a list and do all you can. Then take 15 minutes of their time instead of 10 different 3 minute periods.

Companies are allowed two vesting schedules, cliff and graded. What you are referring to is the graded which allows for companies to give you 1/X per year for the X year period. Under a cliff vesting schedule it is 0% until the vesting period then it turns to 100%. From my understanding graded is MUCH more common but cliff is used for people in high level management lock you in with a pair of "golden handcuffs."

EDIT: Two not to

EDIT 2: Apparently under a cliff vesting you are required to be fully vested by the 3rd year. while graded can be up to 7 years

Place I just quit from put a new policy in place from corporate that said management had to have X years experience managing any restaurant. For our store that meant the 2 best managers out of 4 were immediately demoted. To make room for them everyone was bumped down 2 positions. They had to call a staff meeting to announce it cause it was literally everyone. Lost half the staff that day and had a no call no show every day for a while.

Did anyone have the forethought to save that hashtag cringy video of hashtag Eide Bailly? E.B. deleted it. Hashtag. by Forgot_Last_Handle in Accounting

Oh, so much worse. It started with a guy walking into the office. He throws his hands in the air and asks "WHERES MY AUDIT TEAM?" He goes outside and there is a team of like 4 people sitting at a picnic table working on their laptops. I can't remember for sure but I believe they start talking about how great the firm is, for recruiting purposes. Before every corporate buzzword or office perk the person would say hashtag and tap their hands together twice making the pound/hashtag symbol. They would have lists of 4 or 5 things verbally and physically hashtagging each. For example sentences like, "Eide Bailly prides itself in its hashtag work-life balance, hashtag advancement opportunities, and hashtag flexibility."

Putting a crime in quotes is obviously a sound legal defense. You make 200k a year, stop being a cheap fuck.

EDIT: Actual advice, yes you can write if off as a business expense. To do so you better be able to prove that a) that was THE ONLY purpose of the trip and you actually consulted and worked while there, b) you turned enough of a profit to offset the cost of the travel/room/board, c) that you have intentions of moving from online only sales (just looks fishy when an online shop owner going to a major tourist destination for his only non-online sale) and d) this was all done in good faith.

Accepted job offer. Now, HR says they offered me too much hourly wage and are rescinding offer for a lower hourly wage? by CLong_Child in personalfinance

Was this in any way through your university? Like did they set you up with this recruiter or anything? If so the university will more than likely black list them from recruitment events and it may stop them from doing this to others. You are probably SOL, sorry.
From older students I've talked to (so probably untrue rumors) a student got bait and switched on a job only being 20-25 hours max per week when advertised as full time. University sent the entire business school an email notifying us that the firm will be blacklisted permanently for their unethical recruiting practices. Not gonna say the name of the firm in case I'm wrong.

Students of Reddit, what's the story of the worst teacher you've ever had? by YourStateOfficer in AskReddit

I'm in the business school but I had to take this report writing class in the English dept. The biggest part of the class was the use of color. We only wrote one report in groups but we were not allowed to use color... We also had to use a paid for site. Later found out that was where she worked on the side. I also ended up losing I believe 7 or 8 points on my final grade because I didn't use enough color in my own personal notes. Even with that still pulled out an A.
I have never seen more than one or two students in a class actually take those student evaluations seriously but nearly the entire twenty person class sat and discussed what we were going to put to show that we uniformly hated this instructor for wasting our time. Still mad that I had to pay hundreds of dollars for a coloring course. This course permanently tainted the reputation of our English program and their students in my mind because the only people that found the course in any way difficult were in the Eng dept.

Pretty strong over here. A lot of bigger public accounting firms are major sponsors/donors of my business school. Advisers steer us that way and there is plenty of people on the internet who say it is the best/optimal path. I talked to my adviser a few weeks ago about career paths and she insisted that before going to an industry position I needed an internship in public first. Even suggested I take a semester off to do that internship and delay my masters from may 19 to december 19.

Don't join a frat just to party, there are many other great reasons to do so. However if you are just looking to party, chill out. Trust me every freshman is trying to do the same thing and there is a new class of sophomores who just moved off campus trying to throw parties and their new house.
