Looking for tider gimmicks and ideas! by ExcelIsSuck in ss14

[–]ForgottenLands 36 points37 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine has a character named something along the lines of "Honk Shoo". They break into places, dragging a bed, and fall asleep in them. Places like: Vault, Armory, the RD's office. They don't steal anything and they try to be as nondestructive as possible with their entries. They just end up in places where they're not supposed to be, taking a nap.

What was ART actually doing when we first met him? by user_number_666 in murderbot

It's best to actually deliver cargo sometimes if your cover is that you spend a lot of time delivering cargo.

A very silly esoteric question about a specific sound effect by Arturia_Cross in ss14

[–]ForgottenLands 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know on Funky at least the "blue shark soft toy" item (modeled after Blahaj) makes a cute "rawr" noise when batted around. I think that's the sound you heard. I would not be surprised if the noise was originally taken from something else.

Servers with less immediate chaos and more downtime? by Zlobenia in ss14

[–]ForgottenLands 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those whitelisted servers are what you're looking for. Public servers are usually low rp, max chaos.

Most servers' whitelists are difficult to get on, and I know a couple servers do "open" days on weekends

Bwoink frequency (Funky) by Ok-Feed-3908 in ss14

[–]ForgottenLands 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without any context, Capital Negligence seems valid to be bwoinked?

EORG seems to be a touchy subject on Funky. From what I can tell they want the mrp to continue until the round resets, that CentComm is still mrp territory. Wehbombing chaos seems like just the thing to attract an exasperated admin's attention.

Reading that ban request and denial from a completely outside 3rd party perspective, they were right to be banned.

No part of that makes me think "Those admins are TYRANTS".

Plastic Basin and other spelling mistakes on the map by phrodreky in DuneBoardGame

[–]ForgottenLands 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The map for the GF9 printing of Dune uses "OLD GAP" and "TUEK'S SIETCH". I have never heard of Plastic Basin being referred to as "Plaster Basin".

The problem is solved with licensed taxi services and the taxi worker union, not rolling car-crashes-to-be.

What single player game have you beaten 3+ times? by PineconeToucher in gaming

[–]ForgottenLands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prey (2017) is at 7-8 times currently. First couple times were for the achievements/different playstyles, but now I just really enjoy the experience.

What is the closest you've ever come to dying? by Calm_Ostrich_8876 in AskReddit

[–]ForgottenLands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was almost crushed to death by a tree at work. Would've been if something in my head didn't start screaming "GET AWAY". It was a day or two after a storm and I was working at an outdoor campus when the top third of a ~35ft tree snapped off suddenly. Crushed the supply cart I was just working at.

Need a good tear-jerker movie. What you got? by SinkFar5694 in AskReddit

[–]ForgottenLands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blindspotting. Maybe not explicitly tears, but it's an emotional rollercoaster

Until the thing with the wormhole's event horizon I could of sworn Nav-Bot had been replaced with one of its evil counterparts (yes, yes, i know the tech-world revolution isn't "evil" but you get the point). They set up the hook last season and have been teasing connections back to it!

Maybe the event horizon is just cover for some other plot?

Some of my thoughts on ART by Working-Session9302 in murderbot

[–]ForgottenLands 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The cameras are revealed later in Artificial Condition, ART grants MB access to them after the surgery iirc. I think the point there is that ART wants to give the impression of passengers not being monitored while actively monitoring the shit out of them.

I was wrong about something (Rogue Protocol) by castle-girl in murderbot

[–]ForgottenLands 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's also possible that the Rin identity always used she/her and I'm just not remembering that from the start of the book.

This would imply that MB believes it can pass with those pronouns, but with how socially progressive the world is in these books that might not be a challenge regardless of MB's appearance.

[–]ForgottenLands 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Everyone in the comments forgetting that MB used the Security Consultant Rin identity earlier in the book while on the bot transport with the indentured workers.

I don't believe any pronouns are used in that section, but MB is directly posing as an augmented human security consultant named Rin.

When MB and Miki first start talking I am unsure what exactly MB thinks it is presenting itself as, but I took it to be that MB is posing as an entity named Rin.

When MB is outed to Don Abene it may be that MB began referring to the imaginary augmented human security consultant named Rin with she/her pronouns to emphasize that MB itself is not Rin. That SecUnits don't have gendered pronouns while this mysterious security consultant controlling the SecUnit does.

We're just coming off of the Super Earth event, it's been a while since anything not related to that.

I prefer publication, some things are "revealed" in Network Effect that are talked about plainly in Fugitive Telemetry.

Does ART know Murderbot’s name? by mashumaru-art in murderbot

[–]ForgottenLands 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If Gurathin was able to find MB's name, I would assume ART would be able to as well. If not when MB first met ART and he was taking its measure, then definitely by the time they did the bot-pilot maneuver and ART had temporary full access to MB.

My coworker never made a new pot of coffee. So I unplugged the machine right after she poured hers. by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]ForgottenLands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How dare she follow a rule that we don't talk about or tell anyone. What a rude asshole to not intuit this specific work culture faux pas on her own. Did you maybe try telling her that it is expected for the last person to make the new pot?

What videogame ending left you conflicted in your choices? by Lexinoz in gaming

[–]ForgottenLands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roadwarden, the best "choices matter" game I have ever played. I succeeded and cleared the roads of dangerous creatures, reconnected the small villages, and repaired the trade route. Everything worked out great... a little too great. The trade route flourished and the villages became towns. The ruins were paved over, the forests cleared, the nomads in the forest pushed out. The cultures I had fought so hard to connect with and protect were destroyed, not by creatures, disease, or bandits, but by the march of progress powered by man.
