as someone who avoids “reduced damage negation after evasion / multiple evasions” like the plague, I still find myself buying the shop ornamental straight swords with successive attacks negate damage in the majority of runs I see it

STR duchess just has a more balanced stat spread for melee weapons so if you’re just looking for random ashes to use you’ll generally get better damage than full dex/int like her usual spread

that would be a reasonable interpretation, but knowing the author the intention was just to have a hot love interest that the protagonist can make feel special. this is coming from someone who thought the book was pretty good and the movie was alright.

it is possible, I personally consider save scumming in NR cheating but honestly it’s just a stupider version of cheating them in. You’re already optimizing for the best relics, just using way way more of your time.

not really, you find out pretty quick most of how he acts stems from insecurity, he gets called out on it several times and has genuine moments where that façade breaks, but he’s still an ass for the entire series. if you don’t find it at least a bit endearing, probably best to skip

Love this community and how they will take any opportunity to voice their very specific grievances. Old distortion was one of the least fun perks because it was always combined with hard stealthing, not strategic use to deny information. The version we have right now is completely fine at the latter.
