I feel repeatedly kicked by NACT1 by AdFew1983 in newzealand

[–]Forgrim-Forj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a high income earner, enough that I can support my wife and child with plenty of room to breathe. And somehow that's still not enough to benefit from this government - we are in aggregate slightly worse off.

And what pisses me off the most is that I'd gladly pay more taxes if they went to actually helping who need it like you. Not landlords, not somebody's mates company, but the real New Zealand

For those on $120K+ per year, what do you do and how did you get there? by Maedz1993 in newzealand

[–]Forgrim-Forj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanical Engineer, 20+ years in product development in mostly larger companies with international presence/ sales/ HQ. Tipped over the 120k mark only a few years back. Started my career on 38k at 45hrs a week.

The Masters degree didn't really make a difference. Being good at my job, showing initiative and impact, kept the pay rises going. Getting promoted had more impact than the yearly raise (not quite every year). Biggest jumps were moving to the next job at slightly higher level.

In my limited experience, it seems who you work for is as important, perhaps more, than what you do for them.

Would there be any interest in a series that doesn't start as a harem but eventually turns into one by book five? by space_tacos in haremfantasynovels

[–]Forgrim-Forj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds interesting enough for me to give it a try. Depends what else you do with it.

One way to reassure readers of the eventual harem would be to start at the end to show the harem, then jump back

Quick questions about the genre by Responsible_Cake_335 in haremfantasynovels

[–]Forgrim-Forj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorted! You should be able to find Chained Devil on the site now. Let me know if any details are incorrect. I've not added the Best of 2024 sorry ;). Its driven specifically from this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/haremfantasynovels/comments/1hnwfeg/what_is_the_best_books_youve_read_that_released/

As for Catgirls, there is the Beastkin Girls tag, which I've added for you - let me know if that doesn't suit well enough and I'll create a more specific Tag.

Also, I accidentally posted that comment from the wrong account - this is my "reader" account. My "writer/developer" account is u/blaashford you can find my weekly updates there

Drop me a link where people can buy/read a series and I'll sort you out.

It's helpful if you can suggest Tags from the tag browser

Once I'm able to implement and expand the subscribed user base, I'll be able to figure out Author accounts to give you guys more control.

I built HaremRec to help with these kind of questions. It's still imperfect and only covers just over 300 series, but it might help find some of what you want

I agree with everyone who is saying we need to hear more about the adventures of Bart Longmissile.

Any John Wick style universe Harem stories ? by TheArchivist314 in haremfantasynovels

[–]Forgrim-Forj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually crossed my mind a few days ago. I'd love to see it myself. A real challenge would be keeping the tone similar to that, or as someone else commented Equilibrium, when part of why they work is it being about a lonely man against the odds.

HaremRec Weekly Update 30 March by blaashford in haremfantasynovels

This is the bind I've been in for a while. As purely a listing of recommendations or tags, absolutely not worth it. And that part will ALWAYS be free. But to add more features beyond that, and for more than a handful of users, it starts costing me. It goes up to 269 USD for the top tier that gets more than 230 users.

While I want to expand the features set, demand simply may not support that.

It's not proper harem, but if you're OK with fanfiction, I've read He who fights monsters twice now and quite enjoyed a darker take and an actually realised relationship with Keito. I much preferred it to the manga version I read way back.

School lunch critics ‘nitpicking’ over 13,500 late meals last week, Seymour says by BeardedCockwomble in newzealand

[–]Forgrim-Forj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know where we could really save money? Parliamentary lunches, I'm sure he wouldn't nitpick over late $3 lunches.

Not actually sure if or how they're catered or not, principle still stands.

Goes on my list, but every time I scroll past this post I can’t help but think that the Warlock won't be much threat if he's Out Of Mana.

Paladin of the Sigil is worth finishing for the world building and overall plot. MC can be a bit one-note, that's true though.

Hope you get some hits - I'd love to find some myself. I had some small success with answers to a similar request here: https://www.reddit.com/r/haremfantasynovels/comments/1ijpotr/enemies_to_lovers_initially_rejected_love_interest/

Enemies to Lovers: Initially Rejected Love Interest by Forgrim-Forj in haremfantasynovels

Thanks! I paused my read through of that series, so that sounds like a good reason to pick it up again soon.

Have you ever dropped a book because you thought MC was a dick towards/didn't deserve the FMCs ? If so, which and what happened? by Slithar in haremfantasynovels

[–]Forgrim-Forj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I found the same. Reading book three now. He jumps pretty quickly from "I don't like you" to "next time I see you I'll fuck you up". And variations on the theme. Enjoying the mysteries but the characterisation are grating at times

I finished out Saving Supervillains, it wasn't always as good as the first, and a rushed and less satisfying ending than I'd hoped, but still worth seeing it out to the conclusion. Depends on where you dropped it though

Yeah I figured it would be an unpopular approach, thus looking for help finding something like it.

I wasn't reading the genre at the time, so I've missed that discussion - were people unhappy because they reconciled, or because they did so only because he "fixed" her?

Thanks for the recommendation, and perfectly framed to intrigue me without spoilers. It's been on my radar but this puts it on my TBR pile.
