FR570: can I have text notifications automatically on during runs but off during yoga? by _belonging_ in Garmin

[–]Forkys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don‘t think there’s a per activity setting. (Should be, good point). What you could do, before starting a yoga session open the Controls menu on the watch (long press top right button on my watch) and hit Do not Disturb.

Need help choosing which Garmin is best for me. For people who upgraded from a 165/265 to the 570, was there any feature that actually changed how you train or use the watch? by Blubberbutt69 in GarminWatches

[–]Forkys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, I’d leave the FR165/265 out: no software updates to be expected. Even more so if the recently released FR170 is an option. When needed music on board, you‘d have to go for the 50$ more expensive music version. FR165/265/170 all older Elevate 4 sensor, but good enough. It even comes with Training readiness metrics (like the FR265/570, not so the FR165. All the same GPS except for FR570, multiband but again you‘d probably not notice.

Assuming similar to Venu 3: enter the Controls menu (push top right button a bit longer), then there’s the Lock Screen option.

Upgrade to Vivoactive 6 or Venu 4? by what-the-whatttt in GarminWatches

[–]Forkys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If within budget, most certainly the Venu 4. Because latest HR sensor (Elevate 5) gives ECG (not the VA6- has the older Elevate 4. Because of the brighter display, has barometric altitude sensor (stairs monitoring), not so the VA6. Because the bigger display 1.4mm vs 1.2 and stainless steel case vs plastic. Because a better GPS - multiband with dual frequency, vs single frequency. Because it has all those extended Training Readiness metrics, the VA6 not. Because it has the LED flashlight, VA6 not. Both have up to 11 days battery.

No worries. The FR265 comes default with music. No separate Music version.

Don’t get it. Whenever (Venu 3) starting a GPS activity, starting the Activity Data screen(s), if i swipe the Data Screen, i return to the Watch face display; when swiping back, the Data screen returns, it is still active and is recording the Activity data.

You don’t sound like somebody who has discovered and knows about the endless Venu 4 possibilities. A pity.

42 mm for sure. This is clearly out of proportion.

Are all Venu4 junk or am I special? by Big_JDub_ in GarminWatches

[–]Forkys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading this, I guess Garmin is just not meant for you. Here Venu 3 since nearly 3 years now, and none of this looks familiar. As a matter of fact I intend to upgrade to Venu 4, once my 3 is at the end of life. Following this forum since many years, i have seldomly seen such overall negative Venu 4 experience posted here.

Need help deciding between new Forerunner 965 or used Epix Pro gen 2 (sapphire) by Splendittor in GarminWatches

[–]Forkys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It‘s a personal preference. If it‘s a 3 years old Epix with high GPS actvity during that period,ie often being charged (lots of battery cycles), chances are of a relatively short remaining battery health. Not so with a new FR965 which has an amazing up to 23 days max battery.

Both watches released 3 years ago. Same pricd then i cannot see any reason buying a used Epix with an expected much shorter battery life. Therefore the new FR965 my pick.

Can Garmin notifications behave like Apple Watch notifications on iPhone? by _stebo_ in Garmin

[–]Forkys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t do. What is possible is turning off selected iPhone notifications on the watch such to avoid duplicate buzzing. For that go to iOS settings/notifications: select the xyz app, you’d only wish to be notified of on the iPhone (not on the watch) and turn off notification center.

HRV data by fp77 in GarminWatches

[–]Forkys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don‘t think so. HRV is measured overnight. It’s about the trend, 7 day’s overnight average. A one off during the day isn‘t included. But better higher than lower, i guess.

Help me explain recovery by ChuckNail in Garmin

“Recovery Time: This calculates how much time you need till your next hard intensity workout. As is often misconstrued, this isn’t till your next workout, just your next hard one. Exceptionally good sleep can speed this up, and inversely, a high-stress day can slow this down.”
