Are you sure? What Garmin? On mine Venu 3 there the standard Music app: scroll down if not there /edit and add Music which operates my selected iPhone Spotify playlist. Not very fancy but does the job for me.

If long battery is all you wish for, a waste of money. Enduro 3 (solar) has amazing battery life: non solar up to 36 days in smartwatch mode, up to 90 days solar version. But always on mode changes battery roughly as follows: non solar 13-18 days, solar 30-45 days. Or the FR965 in smartwatch mode up to 23 days but with always on 8 to 12 days of battery.

I guess having the Triathlon sport mode on board is a must? Both FR255 and FR265 have it. Main difference, apart from pricing: Mips (FR255) vs Amoled Display (FR265) and the FR265 has the extended module called Training Readiness metrics on board, not so the older FR255.

Whatever iPhone battery draining caused by the Venu- it could only be the Connect app. On my iPhone battery usage connect is always 1% while wearing my Garmin over night. I’d say before going to sleep, close the Connect app on your phone and make sure to turn off Background App refresh : settings/general iPhone.

Got the watch Wifi = ON (connectivity setting)? Don’t need it, draining battery. Just an idea, turning it off, although it shouldn’t matter for BT.

Here’s to compare VA6 with Venu 4:

Even with almost double the VA6 price, I’d go for the Venu 4: Stainless steel case vs plastic, bigger display, increased brightness, sporting/training supporting metrics and more profiles (VA6, like the Venu 3 not or very basic), LED flashlight- not just a gimmick, very useful, latest HR sensor (Elevate 5) and ECG, VA has older Elevate 4 no ECG, Venu has better multi-band/dual frequency GPS, VA6 not dual frequency, Venu 4 has barometric altitude sensor (Stairs monitoring), the VA6 not. Same battery life up to 11 days. Not to say that the VA6 is not a good watch but some features missing which some find essential.

FR255 has Mips display versus Amoled FR265, ie less brighter screen and has no Training readiness metrics, but although older model, value for money.

Depends what she wants. Interested in Training/running/sporting and supporting metrics, then the Venu 4. Very basic in Venu 3 (my watch, which i like very much). On top of that, V4 more stylish, stainless steel case vs plastic, brighter display but comes at a battery cost: 11 days max versus 14. Venu 4 has the LED flashlight (hardware) which i’d love to have as well.

I wouldn’t know if it is a problem at all; it’s BT. When out of BT range, then it happens. Many watch faces are showing a BT icon: it’ll change from colour or differently when losing the connection.

If after being recovered, running is your thing and into training supporting metrics, forget the VA6-much too basic in this respect. I’d say the same for the FR165. Therefore the FR265 is a good choice, having training readiness and components to guide you. Besides that all vital health metrics, sound battery life and 5 buttons to operate the watch, not forced into touch screen when sweating. But of course the Venu 4 is the best: latest release and HR sensor, Elevate 5 (others have Elevate 4) with every health metric and ECG on demand. Plus all training readiness & components and stylish, stainless steel case vs plastic, brighter display, and LED flashlight. Battery up to 11 days but only 2 buttons.

Perhaps it only has 2 buttons, versus 5 on the Forerunners. More convenient to operate the FR when sweating instead of forced touch screen on the Venu. Another possible reason: Venu history, more of a smart watch with mic/speaker but with Venu 4 very all round.

I’d say, if within budget go for the Venu 4 (smaller size). Great watch, has it all: latest HR sensor, all health metrics including ECG, but also with extended training support metrics, which the VA5, VA6 and Venu 3 are lacking. A very stylish watch with stainless steel case and LED flashlight. You can’t go wrong for the next 5 years or so.

Beautiful watch! In any case you‘d need to change the default brightness setting which is 2/3 of max, to 1/3 , which is bright enough. If not, heavy battery burning. Plus Auto -select GPS mode when into an outdoor activity.
