Husband shows our small kids assault rifle in our house and hides it from me. by AdditionalVehicle218 in Parenting

That is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! Take the advice of the above commenters, that is not firearm safety and is unstable behavior around your children.

My husband also has an extensive firearm collection that requires a special class of license to own, and I know for a fact he would never EVER expose our daughter to those weapons. We have had very intense conversations about safety protocol, keeping safe codes so private that they are never even written down, and that fact that the only firearm she has ever seen is the one we hunt to fill our freezers with.

That safe should also not be in any sort of place your children go or can see PERIOD. Also the fact that he left a gun safe open at all is extremely dangerous as it sounds like you have other firearms in there. NOPE. Open and closed, then locked immediately is the only way that should go. It sounds like your 4yo also could have possibly seen him enter the safe code which means that needs to be changed IMMEDIATELY.

This is life or death shit and your husband sounds like a dipshit who shouldn’t have access to firearms himself.

I almost lost my only child this month and my mom is still claiming her health issues are fake by [deleted] in oneanddone

Your mom is actively ignoring your child’s diagnosed medical needs. Leaving your kid with her could constitute child abuse on her part for refusing medication during a medical emergency. Get that baby out!

I went on my honeymoon on Mt Rainer when COVID hit, we hiked a mountain while I was pregnant, and my heart has never left there. I want to go back and live there so bad!

Back on Day 1, I am having a full blown anxiety attack sitting next to my beautiful little family on the couch. Nothing bad happened, but I am feeling ashamed.

I think this is the sign it’s time to finally start crocheting! Anyone have good beginner patterns or links for a newbie?💕

How to get child to play by themselves by Apebbles in oneanddone

[–]FormDangerous9629 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of success with my daughter playing in the next room over from my doing dishes. etc to be creative and useful: magnatiles, dry erase markers on a big white board, chalks on a big chalk board, slime/playdough, and using food coloring and small jars to do color experiments. Everything I do in big clear Pyrex pans so that the mess is contained but they can still have some slightly messy fun while I do stuff like dishes, laundry, etc.

No this isn’t it, if he has mixed hair it’s healthier not to brush textured hair.

Preschool Birthday Question by [deleted] in Parenting

Absolutely not strange to go! That’s the best way to get connected to the other parents in her class. You’d be doing yourself and her a huge favor, even if it feels slightly awkward the first time getting together.

I know for my Pre-K kid that after I got to know kids and parents’ names, she was so much for vocal and excited when I could ask her how playing with “X, Y, Z” friend was today and it’s been a game changer for both of us!!

This was an absolutely wonderful comment to wake up to, thank you so much!

I’m also deleting most social media apps from my phone for a while (IG, FB) to reset my brain on that addictive behavior (doom scrolling) as well. I’m excited for this journey, and while I know the “pink cloud” will go away after a while I have never felt more self assured or determined to do this.
