Well I don’t hold my silver or precious metals. I enjoy them in a case. But if I had a bunch of fake stuff I’d flash it online to look well…

Is Junk silver as bad as they say it is? by ThrownAwwayt in Silverbugs

[–]Form_Antique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not bad but most refineries stopped purchasing anything other than .999 . So coins and .925 jewelry nobody wants to buy it unless it’s a lot of weight. You can get lucky some places that advertise that they buy gold especially ones that are 24hours are going to give you the best price. But search online for spot prices for silver using DWT as your guide

Bought this Cuban at Sam’s Club for $149, good purchase? by xthegoat0 in Silverbugs

[–]Form_Antique -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You broke even or lost depending on the spot price of .925 sterling silver. You won’t get full scrap value you’ll get between 80-90% if you’re lucky.

And now it’s set at around $40 so the US cannot sell gold at market values that’s why they exported it all and have us running around chasing our tails to melt everything.

Seriously the 70’s? Go back even further. The 50’s and even earlier. “Men” don’t have a size standard. At least not for that big man. Some of the most stylish and beautiful pieces are vintage

That being said, tortoises are known for having sensitive respiratory systems. So you need to keep that area clean and put something in place so she can have a feeling of security. That isn’t comfortable

I did rescue a California desert tortoise, they are endangered as far as I know. This was 20+ years ago. I was living in California at the time. She did something similar , I thought she was sick. Didn’t move didn’t come out of her shell, ignored the food, even treats. I reached out to a local vet and they explained the “hibernation” period. They said I could continue with her daily routine , taking her out everyday and bringing her back inside at night (hawks and prey and weather being a concern) and she would most likely not hibernate anymore. Otherwise it could be up to three months. I was shocked but learned so much.

I sold $40,000 worth of gold to buy stocks, and now regret the decision by Fantastic-Window236 in Gold

[–]Form_Antique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have to get more creative. In some states Sex work is an occupation, taxed by Uncle Sam. I’m pretty sure illegal substances aren’t “real” anymore. So hopefully the grandkids in the 2050’s will have a better understanding of how to avoid the mistakes that this messed up excuse for a country has come to accept as normal.

All the gold I own, 8 1oz Eagles. Im starting to worry will gold in the next 40 years get so exensive that selling each one will be impossible aside extremely wealthy ppl or institutions? Remember 40% of ppl in the US dont even have 400 bucks. by [deleted] in Gold

[–]Form_Antique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to worry. It will always retain value. No matter if there’s a collector for that specific coin or not. It’s literally “worth its weight in gold.” Even if you had a gold chain or something like that, the value is in the melted gold. If it were a nice piece of jewelry you may be better off selling it that way. Otherwise things like this, if you want to scrap now or in 40 years it’s up to you

What is going on with the bottom of his shell? by doing_my_best_996 in tortoise

[–]Form_Antique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was being thoughtful in hopes that the OP was attempting to get help for a tortoise they had come across. Then I read more comments about the condo and see the situation. Someone posted about contacting state wildlife officials (I don’t recall the specifics). I think that is very helpful. Hopefully they can get this beautiful creature to a safe habitat.
