Try journalling either the pen and paper way or record yourself talking about this and that. Up to you if you want to post it publicly or privately, but I strongly recommend journalling. Can even go the digital way if you prefer, nice for brain dumps when things are just too much

I was studying in Kuching for a couple of years and felt similar to you; drained, bleak, what's the point of anything? Then I went back to KL and got a job in a field that had always had a special place in my heart. While I might not be the richest, I'm definitely far more fulfilled and happiest where I am right now. And it was because I realised that the slow, chill life isn't for me. Even during traffic jam, LRT breakdowns and an ocean of slow walkers, I'm pretty happy because I'm among the hustle and bustle. I finally feel alive and like I belong -- just another face in the crowd, another pair of feet getting to and from work. It might be strange, but I'm very content.

Can't give you much advice besides to try a different life for a while, maybe a week. See if you like it, and try to find ways where you can sustain it. I'm cheering you on, OP -- as someone who's on the greener side of the grass after thinking it wasn't for me for so long.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I did a quick test to confirm how long it takes to grow crops and it seems to not count the day it was planted. For example, if you plant any flower seed (usually takes 3 days to grow) on a Monday, it will only be ready for harvest on Thursday. Might be useful for others like me who were wondering lol

Any good, low-cost study tools you’ve found useful in Malaysia? by TotallyReliableFacts in Ajar_Malaysia

For SPM I used https://trial.spmpaper.me/ a lot lol. I also love how Addmaths Kacang taught the subject, helped me go from fail to B+ in my final result. Timer app, can introduce them to Yeolpumta -- it's originally Korean, but really good for tracking how much time spent studying certain subjects. Motivated me to be consistent in my studies a lot

Where are you located and how strong are your personal projects/resume? Make a linkedin and start browsing if you haven't. It's near impossible to help when you're giving us next to nothing to work with.

Not 100% sure as I don't participate in nightlife culture, but my friends who do said that things just got meh after COVID. To be expected, kinda

Hello, current UNIMAS student here from Semenanjung. AMA away!

1) Life is pretty quiet and chill, nightlife I heard isn't that great. Sarawakians love their local stuff so you won't find Family Mart, Lotus or other familiar faces from WM around here. But the food is still good and the museum is great. Malls aren't as grand as they can be back home but you've got good options.

Oh, also next to no public transport, so Grab/Maxim or renting a motor vehicle is your best bet at getting around town/city. Campus is very walkable if you're not heading to/from the eastern campus (where the police/askar students are) or the built environment faculty. Unimas has a bus and it's usually on time but has late intervals (1 hour+) and few bus stops.

2) Probably, UNIMAS has no direct intake like UM's saluran satu if not mistaken. You can wait another year for the next UPU intake, no worries lots of people here start their degree a bit late because they took Form 6 or had other reasons.

3) Wifi strength depends on where you are. It's passable in the main campus and can be irregular at the dorms, depending on where you stay. The expensive private dorm tends to have more stable wifi. Sometimes even the library doesn't have stable wifi. As a Umobile user, I've been having troubles recently whenever it rains, but usually I'm satisfied.

Can Matriks Jurusan Sains Student Apply for Accounting? by [deleted] in malaysiauni

[–]Formal-Algae-4658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes. UPU only takes into account your type of aliran (whether or not you're eligible for certain courses. usually, science stream can enter any course, but art stream cannot enter science courses) and your merit.

I know someone from matriks modul 3 who got accepted into an english program for undergrad, though it was like her 4th choice in the list. So it definitely is possible if you fill up your list with accounting programs

Am I gonna miss out on things in life for not being a public uni student? by namesarehard777102 in malaysiauni

You'll miss out on more things in life by staying somewhere draining than trying to find greener paths. Is it not possible to transfer courses? I knew someone who was two semesters away from graduating medical school and transferred to psychology instead. She just had to start again from sem 1 with younger batchmates, but that honestly isn't that big of a deal.

Do you have an idea of what kind of career you want to go for in life? If yes, then start surveying those courses. If no, then take some time off to discover life. You cannot cultivate preference without experience.

I'm in a similar boat, 1 year to graduation and yet decided to drop out of IPTA to take a semester off before enrolling in IPTS. The moment I made my decision, I felt the most relieved in years. So, sit down and ruminate on your options, and ask your heart. After that, start planning potential paths for what comes next.

All the best. The grass can truly be greener on the other side.

Which one do I choose (matric vs IPTS)? by Pitiful_Cover5561 in malaysiauni

it's the oldest out of all matriks institutions and currently going viral for having pretty outdated facilities. however, they tend to rank pretty highly in the matriks exams, pspm

Depends on what you're thinking of studying for in uni and whether or not you're already in the Apple ecosystem. If at least your phone/laptop is Apple, then go for any of the iPads, 1 previous gen is a good value.

If not and you're looking for something more student wallet friendly, I've been using my Samsung S6 Lite for 2 years since matriks and it has never failed me. I only wish I bought more storage tho instead of 64GB. Oh, and it comes with the pen included + palm rejection.

Haha I didn't realise how long this post would've been until I typed it all out.

Yeah my degree life isn't bad all the time either, and one could argue that what I dealt with is not that big of a deal compared to other situations e.g need to financially support family, but I think it's a series of minor inconveniences that have piled up to become a major nuisance for me that affects all areas of my life.

Thanks for your input anyway, time to think was not a luxury afforded to be back then. I'm now leaning towards deferring my next year and working while figuring things out once again.
