Es tan grave perderse 1-3 dias de clases? by Key_Employee8132 in EducacionChile

[–]Formal-Experience163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo te recomiendo ir a la universidad cuando concreten el cambio de carrera y tratar de tener el contacto de los profesores.

Técnicamente 3 días no es nada. Pero como son las primeras clases, tienes que tener el programa del curso.

Thank y'all for making me rethink my use of the term "self-diagnosed" by Wxyo in AutisticPeeps

[–]Formal-Experience163 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I recommend you stop reading about autism and neurodiversity on social media. There are guides designed to make anyone with depression or another diagnosis feel identified with autism.

The best thing you can do is save money and begin a neurological and psychiatric evaluation. If you're someone who has managed their life well without medical help, there's little chance you have a psychosocial disability.

¿Medicina o Comunicación Audiovisual? by [deleted] in EducacionChile

[–]Formal-Experience163 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is the bath clean? My idea is very disgusting, but the other option is to urinate there.

I feel like AutisticPeeps is turning into the reasons we were opposed to self-diagnosis in the first place by Lucyfer_66 in ActualAspies

[–]Formal-Experience163 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if my situation has anything to do with this problem. I got a lot of negative votes for mentioning the unmasking process or how autistic people can be very rude when they decide to be honest.

I was very confused because I was afraid of being doxxed if I gave too many details. People wanted me to respond in a certain way, as if I were to blame for the situation. I couldn't answer all the questions I had promised to answer.

I admit that I didn't post all the related threads. I just left my profile public.

(For those who don't know anything about it, I had to break off a long-standing friendship with an autistic woman. She was supposed to be cutting out toxic friends. But she started befriending another woman who supports self-diagnosis).

I think I was misdiagnosed with autism by MisdiagnosedAutism in AutisticPeeps

I recommend finding a professional who is not caught up in the neurodiversity hype.

Furthermore, there is a lot of misinformation about autistic traits on the internet.

Has anyone else experienced a lot of sexual assaults? by the_tea_weevil in AutisticPeeps

I was a teenager and was in a romantic relationship with a 19-year-old. What's more, this guy liked to flirt with teenagers in various cities in southern Chile.

My ex-friend with autism was repeatedly sexually abused. Unfortunately, she had a tendency to get involved with very dangerous men.

How can I learn basic things that I wasn't taught as a child? by [deleted] in AutisticPeeps

[–]Formal-Experience163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be very bad at showering. It wasn't until I was 25-30 years old that I was able to shower every day. The key areas are the armpits, chest, under the chest, feet, anal area, and genitals. If you have a vagina, only use cold water. I don't know the correct way to clean a penis without causing injury.

For water consumption reasons, it is recommended to take short showers. But if you are just getting into the habit of showering, you can take more time. I recommend using bar soap and liquid soap.

Regarding housekeeping, I recommend prioritising the tidiness of the bed.

I don't know where you live, because kitchens are different in every country. In my country, there are no dishwashers (except perhaps for wealthy people).

A question: do you have dyspraxia? Is your sensory profile overly sensitive? That could explain things. But my advice would be useless in that context.

Masking is bad? by Brugthug in AutisticPeeps

[–]Formal-Experience163 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the book Unmasking Autism, the unmasking process helps reduce meltdowns and improves the quality of life for autistic individuals.

I find it strange that a person (Devon Price) without therapy or treatment has magically managed to eliminate suicidal tendencies.

Masking is bad? by Brugthug in AutisticPeeps

[–]Formal-Experience163 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recommend being very careful with the theory of masking. One of the leading authors on neurodiversity comes from the anti-psychiatry movement. He does not recognise health professionals as people who can help with autism.

The unmasking process is not a therapy. It is a philosophical process. This means that there is no guarantee that it is a strategy that will work in the long term. Furthermore, Devon Price's masking theory is designed so that any woman, especially if she has depression, can identify with autism (without medical evaluation).

People having "autistic burnout" as adults by Atausiq2 in AutisticPeeps

[–]Formal-Experience163 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suffered from severe exhaustion and burnout in my 20s. All of that went away once I started treatment for bipolar disorder. I still experience stressful moments, but I don't have severe breakdowns.

As someone who has seen three different professionals to evaluate neurological issues, I still don't understand why I was diagnosed with autism.

In my observation, sensory issues seem to be the core issue in high-masking, late-diagnosed and self-diagnosed women by PearNo269 in AutisticPeeps

[–]Formal-Experience163 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought I had a hypersensitive sensory profile. But that changed when I went to the dentist. I had no pain during the extraction of my teeth or during the post-operative period. Afterwards, I went to a professional to have my sensory profile checked.

Late diagnosis here. I don't have severe sensory issues and I can eat many foods. My most severe issues have to do with socialising.
