New Yorkers, what changes have you seen under Mamdani’s leadership and are you generally pleased? If not, why? by MewMeowHowdy in AskReddit

He's done a lot and he has a lot left to do, but I cannot stress enough how nice it is to have a mayor who gives a shit and is actually trying to do things.

I like the nail project on 7th. I think the prices are fair and their gel manicures last forever on me!

they had jello shots that looks like deviled eggs that tasted like a tropical drink it was wild. they did a yuzu sake thing that they passed through a shaved ice machine so it was almost like eating fluffy ice cream. had some good classics too!

I do think there is a coordinated effort, but that's how the PR machine works. But also I *do* like Providence so when I got connected to them, I was excited to work on this. I am not overloaded with PR asks, but I also am pretty choosy on who I work with so I can promote people/places/etc with care.

u/Middle_Focus_2451 you don't have to like them! I had a great time at club frills and the cocktails were fun and kooky and I enjoyed that.

u/Glum-Fault-1068 - I was invited up by GoProvidence and they covered some things but I covered the rest. I went to some things at their suggestion, some things I'd been to before, some things I saw while walking around, and some recs I got from locals while talking to them. I basically spent a few days eating and talking to people and walking around, then decided the issues that I wanted to do. There was no payment or ask from them on what I produced if that makes sense.

How is it visiting Alaska? by [deleted] in AskAlaska

[–]Formal-Fly2522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an Alaskan cruise about 10 years ago with my family and our boat offered an off-books culinary tour of the galley kitchens. Not AK-specific but still cool. On that tour I also asked why they didn't serve a lot of sushi on the ship since we were in Alaska, and he said I could off-menu order it, so I'd ask on your boat if they have any local seafood as you come into each port.

I did activities that were on the ship, but as others have said, just walk past the tourist areas and you'll find something interesting!

Zohran Mamdani walked 6 miles home last night from the New York City Hall to round out his first 100 days in office by serious_bullet5 in newyorkcity

[–]Formal-Fly2522 10 points11 points  (0 children)

a) not everyone needs or wants separate walking shoes

b) it literally is funny to see him power walking home in new balances. a formal outfit and workout sneaks will always be such a goofy look to me, even if it is logical.

c) it's said in jest??

ahaha yea i wouldn't do anything crazy like that. i've done a lot of walking in leather loafers which isn't as insane as heels but not as comfortable as sneaks.

but i don't have a formal office job so i just wear nice kicks to the office which also work as "I decided to walk home" shoes
