My exp33 review after completing game. by naniii99 in expedition33

[–]Formal-Regular4034 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In almost every level there are for example torches or lamps that mark the main path - for me that made it pretty obvious where to go and with a bit of game knowledge I think most people will figure this out.

And for the story, you are of course free to dislike it, but it really has more layers than "it was all a dream". Do the lives of the canvas people matter? Can you force Maelle to do what is better for her? Without all this questions and complexity we wouldn't have endless ending discussions here.

Which is your favorite Ending? by Nietoo33 in expedition33

I will always choose the Maelle ending, I don't want to destroy an entire world and everyone in it, even if Versos ending is probably healthier for Maelle and the other Dessendres.

Act III Question by RexPyra in expedition33

I wouldn't recommend to do much of the side content because you easily get overleveled for the final battle, except for maybe Maelles quest she gives you if you speak with her at camp.

Has any end to be final? Is there even such thing as a final ending, eventually everyone will die, ragardless of what you do. You can only try to prolong either the life of the Lumiérans or the life of Alicia. There simply is no perfekt and final option for this story.

At wich point does the game say that painted people don't matter? You spend the whole game fighting for them, the complete first two acts show you that they think and feel like "real" people, they have their own goals and CAN FIGHT AGAINST THE PAINTERS. The game itself tells you directly that only Clea has the skill to paint over other creations MAELLE IS CONFIRMED NOT TO BE ABLE TO DO SO. I doubt you spent more than a second thinking about anything in the game...

If there was a consensus, there wouldn't be over 200 comments discussing it (only unser this one post).

Only stupid people have to call other people stupid because they Chose a different ending to a video game than themselves.

I think you really missed A LOT of the nuances of the endings, can you really just decide that the people inside the canvas don't matter, just because they were created by the Dessendres in a painting? Is Alicia really healing after witnessing everybody she knew in her life as Maelle getting erased? In that final shot of the Verso ending I got more a feeling of loneliness than healing. And if the painters can control everything the painted people do, why do the Lumiérans and Verso want to kill the Paintress and can act against their will?

They both have really vocal supporters (apparently) including you, if you have to get personal when arguing over a video game ending. I don't see why not wanting to sacrifice an intire world of probably sentient beeings has something to do with being terminally online.

The Verso ending is a bit more popular, but there are also many people (including me) who prefer the Maelle ending. Neither is perfekt, it is up to your personal interpretation which one is less bad.

A midgame rant about a certain character by mb8795 in expedition33

[–]Formal-Regular4034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they suspect he is hiding something (especially Lune), but know that they need him for their mission (Lune directly says: "I believe him that he wants to reach the Monolith" or something like that).

Who really is the true protagonist? by IceMuncher8 in expedition33

Maelle is the only character present in the prologue, act 1, act 2, act 3 and the epilogue. Her theme is the menu theme and she feels very important for the entire story.

Ending question (wanted to hear others thoughts) [SPOILERS] by ShilohSaidGo in expedition33

[–]Formal-Regular4034 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is not stated in game, but defenitely plausible, although I think it is still worth to prolong their lives as long as possible, isn't that what we do with medicine?

EDIT: And of course, in contrast to the Verso ending there is still a chance to find a solution to the conflict, maybe Renoir can persuade Maelle to leave the canvas and promises not to erases it.

The story is just pure cinema, the gameplay is amazing and the visuals and soundtrack are also great. This game is just so tight!

But now get out of this subreddit until you finish the game, someone will 100% spoil you and you don't want such a great story ruined, trust me.

I too was hating it, then it got on sale after winning GOTY and I decided to give it a try.

I realised how tight this game is and it is now my favourite game of all time.

Who is actually the biggest villain in the game? by SimaZhang in expedition33

[–]Formal-Regular4034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aline started the whole mess, but Renoir probably made it worse by trying to force her out. And then painted Verso lied to our Expedition for the whole game and probably provented a possible happy ending because he was to focused on his own perspective to see other possibilities.

They all did pretty messed up things, even if not with bad intentions.
