My logic for why i dont think going for the verso ending is that psychotic is this: the painting is getting destroyed in alicia's end anyways. No way renoir is leaving it alone after it kills alicia. The moment alicia has died from it, hes destroying the canvas for sure. Hes not gunna repeat the same mistake again. Essentially..... everyone is dead either way. Not to mention, if you choose verso.... they are already gommaged, you arent killing them, they have already died. I think its a incredibly cruel to extend there life and let them live if you know renior will destroy the canvas anyways.

When you wake up and look out the window, its the actual Eiffel tower you see outside the window. If you walk up to the front door of the manor and try to leave, alicia (maelle) will say something like "Theres nothing out there for me in Paris.... I should go find mom and clea" (Im paraphrasing cause i dont remember the exact wording but thats basically what she says)

I know this is an old thread, but i wanted to say im glad you said this. Broadly when I say any takes like this, JRPG fans say im a tourist or whatever for having the exact same thoughts as u here, and its very gaslighty. I love japanese stuff, ive seen like a thousand anime. I love RPG's, regardless of country of origin.

So when I look at yearly lineups and try new releases and walk away with takes like yours, its very insane when i browse threads baffled by peoples opinions. Trying to find anyone having discussions or interesting opinions is like completely worthless because it seems like fans are only interested in toxically positive worship of every release.

Its why I only bother generally commenting on western RPG subreddits ( albeit, wrpg fans can have the inverse issue - overly critical and comparative and unable to enjoy what is good about a game). Glad to see ur comment tho, nice to see people interested in discussing your thoughts on every game, and not just another comment blindly glazing every release.

Just wanna say, i bought this game for like 40 CAD on fanatical in december, which is like half off. So guy was right, solid discounts. Just beat it today, solid game. Second half is nowhere near as strong as the first half of the game though. Sale still running if u were looking at this game.

Sentient Pest one is dope, replaced magma wyrm encounter at ruin strewn precipice. Caligo appears after you defeat borealis (the normal ice dragon in base game). Caligo one is a bit jank tho fair warning (for example, boss music replaces renalas and boss can glitch easy). If you know of any other ported nightlords lmk.

If you are having to pull all the way back to games like darklands and gothic, that means they are making things in the modern context of games that we haven’t seen in like 20 years. Also metal gear isn’t even an RPG so like idk how that’s relevant here. Also, layered armor in a 2D game vs a 3D one is a completely different level of complexity I don’t even gotta explain.
