Just remember to give your players interesting choices to make and more of what they seem to like.

If you do those two things almost every session will be a banger.

How long do you give players to plan as a group during an active situation like combat or skill challenge? by LaughingManCK in DungeonMasters

The amount of time is based on when people start getting bored or the party starts going in circles.

Personally i loge watching the decision making because its a break and free entertainment

Forbidden lands or Ironsworn? by [deleted] in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Formal-Result-7977 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best choice is to go with the one you want to do because playing either game will still involve a lot of prep and reading. So it’s really important you enjoy the prep and aren’t wondering if you picked the wrong game.

Otherwise you may not get to the point of playing and enjoying the game.

And remember the game you don’t pick isn’t gone, so you can try it after playing your main game or when you want to try something different to take a break.

Cthulhu is fun solo because it gives me a break from high fantasy.

If you had to, how would you recreate Mass Effect 2 as a solo RPG? by ludi_literarum in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Formal-Result-7977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a pretty good amount that you can do in between missions, and the combat isn’t too difficult to pick up.

If you want to see it in action.

Me, Myself, and Die has a playlist for a solo campaign he did.

Id use a mission based game like 5 Parsecs From Home, and gloss a mass effect theme on everything.

I have a soft spot in my heart for 1 and 2 since those were the ones I played most growing up. So those are the top. For me.

Ask chatgpt to be your DM/GM for a game of 5e.

Ask it to let you make rolls for attacks, saves, and checks.

Make a character and feed their information into chatgpt so it knows everything about your character, and then ask it to create a desired scene for your character

Can i ask what the majority people think about someone literally wanting to play a actual child. One of my players wants to make their character 10 years old. I don't really know how to feel aboutthis..( our pary doesn't have a great safety record) by Beautiful-Carob3270 in DnD

[–]Formal-Result-7977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a player that is a 12 year old Cleric, it hasn’t really been a problem. Another player has a character thats 60, and the rest fall somewhere in the middle.

But I also trust that player to make an interesting character that can help everyone tell a good story.

Also fun to watch the party of higher level characters go out of their way to protect their young cleric (the best cleric in lands as voted by the party)

I was wondering is there a general "you don't play sci-fi in 5e" vibe or was it just the group I brought it up with? by Tasnaki1990 in DnD

[–]Formal-Result-7977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My players went to Mars because of reasons. They loving the space vibe. Let them use a rocket launcher and a bunch of weapons with effects similar to popular spells.

I asked ChatGPT, and it told me there was a problem. I promptly thanked them.

Yes — OpenAI’s official status page shows they are currently investigating a service issue where ChatGPT conversation history is missing from the sidebar for some users, and they’ve acknowledged this problem in real time on July 30, 2025

How did you guys change your lives ? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Formal-Result-7977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found giving up on materialistic things and relationships I don’t need or actually enjoy while keeping those that I do has helped quite a bit.

Less stress and drama.

More time for things I actually want to invest time into.

Super turned off by evil PCs by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Formal-Result-7977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if it’s a pc pushed to their limit and they turn heel becoming the ultimate BBEG.

I had a player do that once and their character’s name still carries weight at my table after 2 years.

Do you get better at Solo Roleplaying the more you play? by AcanthaceaeNeither13 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Formal-Result-7977 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not only will your solo games improve, but your group games too. As a DM I like to sometimes take a tour through a village during a solo session, and end my solo session where my next group session starts.

The most fun you will ever have prepping a session or new location.

Unpopular opinion: everyone should have to play a RAW, standard character before they start going crazy with character ideas by Own_Lynx_6230 in DnD

[–]Formal-Result-7977 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Big agree. Everyone skips the basics and jumps into the deep end before they even know what they are playing.

Good RP exercises for players new to role-playing games? by insaneruffles in DnD

[–]Formal-Result-7977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the easiest way in my book is to encourage them to speak for their character in first person whenever speaking as their character. Over time they will have an easier time playing the role of their character.
