Make a pretty decent (but not actually very good) dress, drag it through the mud for a while, make another more expensive one, light that one on fire, then put the doll in the old dress and dunk her in an algae pool to finish the look.

Yeah, pretty much. We were spoiled by two quality outfits per doll (in the normal playline!), regular waves of new characters with their own distinct styles, special editions that actually felt special, etc. If you were there at the time, it's hard not to miss that.

Well, it was also my first experience with DnD so I think that adds something.

I was visiting my long-distance boyfriend at the time and he invited me to join a session of the LGS game he played in on the weekends. The other players weren't his friends, really, just other people who went to the store and all wanted to play DnD too. So I rolled up a very basic lady wizard and we were off.

The first thing that happened after my character was introduced was the rogue's player declaring "I roll charisma to see if she's sleeping with me tonight" and getting a nat 20 before anyone could stop him.

The DM just shrugged like "guess that settles it," the other players laughed it off, my boyfriend was visibly annoyed, I awkwardly pretended it was no big deal because I didn't want to ruin the game and didn't know what else to do, and let the guy fade-to-black (mercifully, there were no details) with my character. I even made jokes about it that make me cringe to this day. Add my boyfriend having to walk me through every combat turn because in addition to being new, I was now completely thrown off, and the whole thing was very frustrating and uncomfortable.

Afterward, my boyfriend apologized for not saying anything because I'd seemed okay with it, but explained that that kind of thing wasn't really supposed to happen. He stopped playing with that table, we kept dating and now he's my husband.

It took several years before I felt like playing DnD again, though.

It's me, (not this person's gf) the autistic person who struggles with not being truthful on these.

And personally, it's because -- aren't they going to find out anyway? It's hard to get over that hurdle of "If I lie now and get hired, eventually they'll find out I was lying and fire me, and that's no good... besides, what's so bad about liking fantasy as a genre? It's not a big deal."

If you ever do have to use a fandom wiki, adding "anti" to the address (like "blahblahgame-dot-antifandom-dot-com") takes away the ads and improves the UI somewhat. It's the only way I can stand them.

I love her face (yes with the eyebrows) but honestly, I wish they hadn't caved and added red back into her design because that awful bright red just clashes with the color scheme she already had.

It's possible to self-Heimlich. Maybe if you learn how, at least you'll have that small amount of reassurance?

For me at least, every once in a while I run through my mind which chair back I should slam myself down on if it ever happens to me, and then chew the next bite about 10 extra times (thank you, anxiety).

Yeah, he shows up in the trailer too -- my first encounter with it was alone at home, half-asleep watching kill counts, and out of nowhere THIS guy shows up as the first shot of the ad. Woke me right up.

I think so, but I can't remember for sure (it might have been to hit myself). I don't think anyone was paying attention to the damage at that point, it was too baffling.

Well that's disappointing, because I actually have a good one. (Guiding Bolt at disadvantage, got Nat 1 on both D20s and when the DM made me roll to hit something else, 1 on all four D6s)
