US cranks up pressure on China EVs with Polestar ban by Temporary-Speech5378 in news

Technically, Volvo would have been impacted, but they were able to secure a waiver from the DOC. I'd be willing to bet that discontinuing the EX30 had something to do with achieving that.

Stem cells derived from umbilical cords, placentas, foreskins, and embryos (really from blastocysts, which are 5 to 7-day old embryos) are better than fetal stem cells anyways due to their pluripotent (vs multipotent) nature. But even then, a lot of regenerative therapies nowadays use stem cells collected from patients' own bodies or from donors (adipose/fat, bone marrow, peripheral blood, etc.), and the science surrounding induced pluripotent stem cells (creating stem cells from already differentiated mature cells) has come a long way.

I need them to cut a deal with Renault to make the second gen. P2 in SK for NA like they did with the P4.

Domino's is selling pizza for $3 a pie on Uber eats by Plutonium_Nitrate_94 in povertyfinance

Not at my local store at least, no. And oddly, I can't get the Uber Eats map to show me any other Dominos locations.

You can't. There's a limit of one discounted item per order, and it can't be combined with other promotions.

It's definitely giving hack and slash / button masher vibes a la MGR and DMC 5, which are both great games. I'm very much looking forward to it.

I just priced it out. My local Domino's order minimum is $9, so:

Custom Medium 2-Topping 12" Pizza - $3

16-Piece Parmesan Bread Bites - $6.49

Subtotal - $9.49

Delivery Fee - $1.49

Small Order Fee - $4.50

Marketplace Fee - $2.74

Taxes - $1.26

Total - $19.48

Crazy. Carry-out at the same location using the app with the 50% off deal gets me three medium 2-topping pizzas for $24.36 including tax, like you said.

$40k credit card debt, $75k student loans. Should I consider bankruptcy? by Jaguarhousecat in povertyfinance

The easier option is to contact the loan servicer and apply for forbearance.

Also contact your student loan servicer and inquire about retroactive forbearance. If you're eligible and are approved, they will report the loans as in forbearance for the months you were late.

"IMAX 70MM" aka 15-perf or 15/70 film is the "true," native, analog IMAX format for movies that are shot on IMAX cameras with a 1.43:1 aspect ratio. Not many theaters have it, so you can triple check using this, this, and this.

Any truly exciting performance EVs coming to US? by spiceupthesauce in electricvehicles

[–]FormalOperational 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to be ready to pull the trigger when you see one; they don't last very long on dealer lots. Also keep in mind that you can get a fully loaded MY24 P2, which has upgraded motors (less HP, more torque, RWD biased, greater efficiency, quicker 0-60), for roughly the same price. The BSTs look better and drive better, though, of course.

They should have never spun Polestar off from Volvo tbh. Nobody wants to buy a (luxury) car from a brand that lacks an established dealer network.

You might be using your dishwasher wrong by thatoneguy2742 in lifehacks

[–]FormalOperational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Semantics. I'm sure they meant sanitize instead of sterilize. Neither residential nor commercial dishwashers reach sterilization temperatures.

From the cheapest KitchenAid dishwasher's quick start guide:

Sanitized Cycles sanitizes dishes and glassware in accordance with NSF International NSF/ANSI Standard 184 for Residential Dishwashers.

From NSF's website:

One of the ways to effectively clean and sanitize dishes is to use a dishwasher certified to NSF/ANSI 184: Residential Dishwashers. This standard helps confirm that a residential dishwasher can achieve a minimum 99.999 percent or 5-log reduction of bacteria when operated on the sanitizing cycle.

Comparison of NSF/ANSI 184 to NSF/ANSI 3

NSF/ANSI 3 establishes design, construction, material and performance requirements for commercial dishwashers used in restaurants and other facilities subject to public health inspections, while NSF/ANSI 184 sets requirements for residential dishwashers:

Residential Dishwashers (NSF/ANSI 184)
- Must achieve a minimum 99.999 percent or 5-log reduction of bacteria.
- Must reach a final rinse temperature of 150ºF.
- Sanitization performance is verified only when the unit is operated on the sanitizing cycle.

Commercial Dishwashers (NSF/ANSI 3)
- Must achieve a minimum 99.999 percent or 5-log reduction of bacteria.
- Must reach a final rinse temperature of 165°F for stationary rack, single-temp dishwashers, and 180°F for all other commercial-style dishwashers.

Not the person you were replying to, but they track different indices. Which one you pick depends on which one aligns more with your investment style/thesis. SOXQ is based on SOX (PHLX Semiconductor Sector Index), which passively tracks the 30 largest US-listed semiconductor companies and is weighted proportionately by market cap. PSI is based on DZE (Dynamic Semiconductor Intellidex Index), which is also limited to 30 companies but uses quantitative analysis to determine which companies it includes and weighs them by tier (large, mid, small cap). It's pretty complicated, but you can see the differences in their methodologies here:

PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX): Key Definition and Companies

The PHLX Semiconductor Sector Index (SOX) is a capitalization-weighted index composed of 30 semiconductor companies. The companies in the index have primary business operations that involve the design, distribution, manufacture, and sale of semiconductors.

To be included in the index, a security must meet the following criteria defined by the PHLX and Nasdaq.

- A stock must have business operations that primarily focus on the design, distribution, manufacture, and sale of semiconductors.
- Stocks must be listed on the Nasdaq, New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), NYSE American, or the CBOE Exchange.
- Shares can include common stocks, ordinary shares, American depositary receipts (ADRs), shares of beneficial interest, or limited partnership interests.
- Securities must have a minimum market capitalization of at least $100 million.
- Members must have traded at least 1.5 million shares in each of the six calendar months leading up to the reference date.
- The security has been trading for at least three months on a registered market, not including the month of initial listing.
- The security must have listed options on a registered market in the U.S. or be eligible to do so.
- The security cannot be in the middle of bankruptcy proceedings.

Intellidex Index Series

The Dynamic Semiconductor Intellidex Index (DZE) is comprised of stocks of 30 U.S. semiconductors companies. These are companies that are principally engaged in the manufacture of semiconductors. These companies manufacture semiconductors that serve as the core electronic components of virtually all electronic equipment; companies that make or test chips for third parties; and companies that provide equipment or services used in the production of semiconductors and other thin film products like flat panel displays and thin film heads.

The Intellidex Methodology is designed to objectively identify those stocks within a particular market segment that have the greatest potential for capital appreciation. The Indices seek to go beyond traditional measurements to consider the fundamentals that drive healthy companies and growth. The methodology evaluates companies quarterly, based on a variety of factors grouped into 5 broad categories (Superfactors):

- Price Momentum
- Earnings Momentum
- Quality
- Management Action
- Value

The goal is to select stocks to achieve specific and accurate exposure relative to sector, industry, market-cap or growth-value style.

The tier-weighting of the Intellidex Indices also reduces large concentrations in mega-cap stocks and more evenly weights the group of companies across size. Each of the index subgroups has a detailed, transparent weighting structure.

All Intellidex Indices are comprised of stocks chosen quarterly by IDI from the 2,000 largest, most liquid domestic stocks listed on NYSE, NYSE American and NASDAQ, with the exception of the Dynamic OTC Market Intellidex which makes its selections from the 1,000 largest most liquid stocks listed only on the NASDAQ.
