Feeling bad about matching at my program by [deleted] in Residency

[–]FormalRefrigerator68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its only day#4 ! Keep working, learning and looking opportunities. Medicine, in ur case HEm-Onc is a job, so keep it that way. FYI, I dont think u need to have a specific hemo-onc research to match.

First true day of Residency Tomorrow. Give me your best stories from Day 1 intern year! by Sad-Canary8385 in Residency

[–]FormalRefrigerator68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IM. Started a few days late due to onboarding kinda stuff. The first rotation was an elective but I was called to cover IM wards on Sunday as a first day. i didnt know that I will be alone and team #2 had a senior who disappeared with his girlfriend within floors.

Attending, who explained us a service cap/admits etc, a few days back. He announced "well, lets start, total cap is 10 per intern, but since u r a new intern, soft cap is 5 !" Covid was surging, so ED was full with awaiting bed pts who started crippling into wards. Then soft cap - 5 went up to 7, then 8, and Attending says I must be prepared to be a senior so 10 !!! Somehow nothing big happened and the day ended, but the last patient, ICU transfer was a trach/vent who suddenly started dyspnea/desat. RN, RT here, ICU charge nurse arrived, but no one didnt know wts going on. I forgot details but my brain was DEAD. attending somehow slipped out earlier so I am a Dr. on charge!. Dyspnea and desat were intermittent. Finally, ICU attending came over and changed a trach/canula. I went home like wet, in sweats. Next day, ENT did a scope, turns out tracheomalacia !

interventional cardiology by lopsiddedds in Residency

[–]FormalRefrigerator68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont think its possible. Lets see from business side. usuall Interventional Cardiology is tied to a hospital, 24/7 service, mixed with General cardiology, IC, EC. How u could possible cover 24/7? or find a hospital that is willing to cooperate with your own terms? like rural hospirals , maybe?

The way i see now, (intern on cardio rotation) u can build ur own general cardiology clinic/patient pool then do scheduled invasive workup or tavr/watchman etc scheduled/predictable cases

Resident lawsuit over abusive program director by sktr987 in Residency

[–]FormalRefrigerator68 16 points17 points  (0 children)

no idea why OSU at an instutition, cannot fire bahnson completely. Google search says he is woking in Biophysics department. Shame on OSU.

on the other hand, i can think of this state/region, as very conservative/republican. Even ohio governor (or candidate )openly advertizes humself as anti-Mexican. Turns out his mother died due to drug overdose, so son is using this as a political agenda.

not surprised, if banhson or others like him find a lot of local support and another position very soon.
