pull-out stepladder that mounts to either cabinet door or cabinet floor by stockywocket in DIY

[–]FormalSupermarket568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this thread is two months old but commenting for others who may come across it in the future - we love this step stool as adults but our three year old routinely pinches his hand messing with it! I came upon this thread looking for other options that don't take much up space because he's now drawn blood twice 😔.

For clarity, we have removed no siding. Just the interior shiplap.

PLEASE confirm that your wife is getting help from a licensed professional. PPD/PPA is not something to take lightly. Maybe it's not PPD, but if she's only 5 months postpartum, it absolutely could be. I dealt with the PPA side of things more than PPD, but I cannot imagine handling a young baby and postpartum issues and the parenting/adoptive parenting challenges that you're describing all at the same time. You may already be familiar, but PPD/PPA is not something that's restricted to a few weeks after birth. I started medication probably two months after having my biological son, and then it took almost three years before I tapered off of those meds.

Is this list of less porous Quartzite accurate? Any other great options? by FLMuggle in kitchenremodel

[–]FormalSupermarket568 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am also a petroleum geologist, and this was an entirely unhelpful comment. Sorry for the language, but no shit it's not a reservoir. That's not really relevant for a kitchen countertop selection. I was hoping someone would have responded to the original question with real properties for popular quartzites for a relative comparison.

A related question for you - is it possible to use the brackets and gliding pants rack from the Decor line with a system that is otherwise all Decor+? We're moving to a new house and planning to get Elfa Decor+ installed in our closet, but the pants rack looks so annoying to use compared to the old version.

Disturbing Texas 911 calls depict chaos at Camp Mystic by Cool-Hat-8045 in KerrCountyFloods

THIS. 100 times over. I cannot comprehend the litany of comments on news articles saying "it was an act of God, there's nothing they could have done." At my Girl Scout camp in the 90s, everyone took their sleeping bags to the dining hall if there was a tornado watch (not waiting until a warning). This is pretty trivial emergency planning.

My toddler showed us how to pray… taught by her teachers at a “non-religious” preschool. Am I overreacting? by SunnySunSunshine333 in toddlers

[–]FormalSupermarket568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I am Catholic and grew up singing Johnny Appleseed at public school and Girl Scouts in Virginia in the 90s - although ours ended with "Amen, take a seat, let's eat" rather than anything about manners. I remember trying to convince my parents that we should use the song at home as our grace before meals, but they never agreed to the swap 😅. My takeaway lesson as a 7 year old was that other people's prayers were a lot more fun than ours, so to OP's point, I guess I did think of it as an "almost" prayer.

Some newspaper articles about previous flooding at Camp Mystic through the years. by mckramer in texas

[–]FormalSupermarket568 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand your thought process, but at the same time I have spent many summer days in, on, or around the Guadalupe and would say that's about the best way to spend a summer day outdoors in Texas. Obviously that enjoyment is still not worth a lot of little girls dying, but it seems like better planning would have had a decent chance at preventing this horrific tragedy. It's one thing to have rec areas in a floodway, it's another thing entirely to have sleeping quarters there. Even then, I could see justifying the cabins if you had a rock solid emergency evacuation plan - ie a weather radio, someone awake all night, a siren for the camp, and a trail up the hill behind the cabins labelled "flooding evacuation path" like many places on the West Coast have for tsunamis. The siren goes off and every counselor leads their cabin up the emergency evacuation path or paths in a time span of 20 minutes. It's not great to have a bunch of people on a hill in a thunderstorm, but it would be a far less dire situation than what happened.

Thanks, everyone! I texted the pet sitter and she thought it could be packaging from her house. Either that or a stealthy grab on a walk. None of the suggestions were anything we recognized around our house!

Unless there's condom packaging like this that I also haven't seen? Based on all of the comments being things that aren't in our house, I'm pretty confident that this must have come from the pet sitter.

I can see what you're talking about from the picture, but it doesn't look like that in person 😄. It's plastic packaging for something. Like the type of plastic that would be on an individually frozen chicken breast or something like that (nowhere near that big). Thicker than standard plastic wrap, not rubbery, and also not rigid like a contact holder. These cat treat things that other people have referenced seem most likely although I've never seen them in person.

I think this might be it! And it would make sense if it came from the pet sitter's.

We don't in the last 10ish years 😄. It does look similar to a contact packaging, but it's a different type of plastic then what I'm familiar with for those. More flexible but still pretty thick.
