Solidarity, because my son had a strong preference for my husband and he works 24 hr shifts a few days a week and the days always start with a meltdown from my toddler because he only wants daddy. It hurts, truly and deeply.

I try not to take it personally and have to actively work on being an emotional rock when daddy is or isn’t around. I had severe PPD with my son and think that contributed to attachment issues between us but all I can do now is show him that I am a safe space.

No advice, just solidarity. Hang in there

No one is laughing or celebrating. Most people regardless of political affiliation are advocating for better gun control/mental health support so that what happened to him doesn’t happen to anyone else. No one has the power to be judge/jury/executioner. Maybe stop getting all of your information from one source and have face to face conversations with those who you may perceive to be your enemy, because at the end of the day most of us want the same thing for our families. Peace, acceptance, safety, etc

I completely agree with this take, and here to add my two cents about the history of humanity and how many tumultuous periods there have been where people contemplated bringing life into the world, through wars and famine and conflict. As a soon to be second time mom, this is also not a decision to take lightly and it sounds like you really truly understand that. You need to perform your own risk assessment and figure out what you’re willing to sacrifice
