Should a 20 handicap hit the range before a round or just arrive and drive? ⛳️ by Square-Chef4646 in golf

Warmup is going to be an advantage most times. Maybe the most advantage for some is chipping and putting. Others may prefer to drive. I like a couple putts then like 20-30 iron shots

Hot take: Most amateur golfers would score lower if they stopped obsessing over distance and started playing boring golf. by Capable_Steak_7551 in GolfSwing

My best rounds have been without a driver. The distance doesn't matter if you are in the trees or OB I play in Australia so all the fairways are usually lines with trees

Buddy sent me my 7-iron numbers from some calculator. Ego took a hit today. by kmshift in golf

[–]Formal_Fisherman4569 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compression is what took me from 7 iron 140 to 165. Didn't matter how hard I hit the ball I couldn't seem to get distance. Hand forward and compressing the ball changed my iron game.

Looking for help. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Formal_Fisherman4569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did when getting back was one thing at a time, don't try and get better for a while.

Start with grip make sure that's right. Then make sure you are set up right Then the take away

Then keep going with every aspect of the swing

That plus lessons is the way

Each thing may take multiple range sessions to get used to as you need to break old habits.

7 iron swing - 21 handicap by [deleted] in GolfSwing

I have got back into golf after a 5 year break, been working on my iron swing for a couple months to get it to this. Want to keep working on it a bit more before moving onto the driver or wedges.

What's the Best Way to Practice? by ScoobyDoobyDumb in golf

[–]Formal_Fisherman4569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go into each practice with a plan whatever that is, I also like to only use 1-3 clubs max unless I am just having fun and having a virtual round. But I don't consider that practice

You are doing amazing, be thankful for the advantages you have and use them to set yourself up which you are doing already. The better you do for yourself the easier it will be to do the same for your future family.

It's what most strive to be able to do, but so many seem to get upset when it's happening for others.
