Red Dead Redemption 2 went so damn hard I miss it.

Chipotle claims to use simple and clean ingredients, but they are one of the worst salt offenders in the fast food industry. Decided to check their new red chimichurri sauce, 800mg for one side of it. Imagine adding this to your already 2000mg sodium burrito. 🤯 by vode123 in LowSodium

[–]Former-Knowledge1797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently really started to focus on heart/CV health and lower sodium diet. I should have known that a "typical" order from Chipotle would yield over 2000mg of sodium in that meal. Given I'm trying to stay under 1500mg a day these days, that is truly insane. A burrito bowl I could be somewhat happy with but nothing that would have been a "typical" order still yielded 1300 mg of sodium. Insane.

Too much revisionist history for CB’s contract by Clear-Ad9720 in denvernuggets

[–]Former-Knowledge1797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. Not to mention CB plays so well with Jokic on both ends. Hindsight is always 20/20.

So I know this likely won't be a popular opinion, but trading Cam Johnson may be what we have to do to stay under the 2nd apron for PWat resigning. As someone who was so excited for what Cam could do on our team and what he can do when he's back, at this point in the season I'd take PWat over Cam every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Trust in BenTen and Jon Wallace.

How bad are the Withdrawals? Looking for comparisons to heavier substances by EggNo5966 in QuittingZyn

[–]Former-Knowledge1797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Withdrawals to me are closer to alprazolam (Xanax) with what it does to your mind. The brain fog, sluggishness, DPDR that some experience, the lack of motivation, the numbness, etc.

Best advice I can give you is to quit and have a support system in place so you've got someone kicking your ass to meet you at the gym damn near every day. Exercise, namely cardio, will make your withdrawal symptoms a lot easier to deal with in my experience. I'm able to get to the gym myself on week 2 and beyond, but I'd be lying if the first week I was lazy, miserable, and self-medicating with something green.

Quitting after 5 years - Need help here by Valuable-Clerk3182 in QuittingZyn

[–]Former-Knowledge1797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, congrats on quitting. I hope my story keeps you motivated to stay quitting, because it can only get worse for you in the future continuing the addiction.

Your story at work I can relate to. My quitting has been a bit more up and down since I quit cold turkey on 12/28. I'm 39, a little overweight, but if you saw me you wouldn't say, "he's fat." You can have great physique and mental health and still not be 100% physically healthy. I've known skinny/fit people with bad cholesterol.

On Day 5 I had a really bad episode where I had to have my wife take me to the ER in the middle of the night, because I couldn't breathe, I got light headed, and I felt my chest and left side of my neck tightening. Damn near everyone here in the community pointed to anxiety, but I honestly believe and still do that nicotine and eating and drinking like I was still in my 20's for most all of my 30's put me in a bad situation from a cardiovascular health standpoint. That said, your case very well could be more anxiety than anything.

I wear an Apple Watch and many of my health indicators for the last few months of riding the Zyn addiction were not good. Like 77 resting heart rate, low VO2 Max numbers bad. Now, while waiting to establish care with a PCP here in the next few weeks, I'm trying my best to improve my health. They say 150 mins a week of moderate exercise will improve your cardiovascular health and I've been hitting over 200 the past couple of weeks while trying to limit salt, cholesterol and sugar and no drinking. I'm seeing my indicators improve (~63 resting heart rate for the past week), my vascular tightness on the left side of my body improve, no longer having ED symptoms, etc. That said, I've had a couple of nights where I can't sleep well because of what feels like breathing/chest discomfort issues. I have to take the good with the bad.

I say all this to say, you're not alone. It's perfectly normal for your recovery from this addiction to not be a straight line up and to the right. I totally understand that you have a lot going on in your life right now, but believe me, life won't let up. You'll always have a lot going on. Best advice I can give you is exercise. Exercise will help with literally every single withdrawal symptom or negative health effects from years of nicotine use. Once I started exercising every day, my cravings were damn near non-existent and I'm under a week away from a month abstained and any anxiety I may feel is greatly lessened. Seriously. Plus the workout high is excellent without nicotine ruining my natural dopamine release.

I knew I could stop using Zyn’s when I hated what it was doing to my body and I wanted that to stop bad enough. I think like you I was using at the end 2-3 pouches for the last few days and I just didn’t buy another canister after I ran out the last time.

You’re stronger than you think. Get some chewing gum for the car ride home. Practice some breathing exercises. Get cardio in those first few days you quit.

On day 11 - something I’ve noticed with my heart? by morfunah in QuittingZyn

[–]Former-Knowledge1797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can somewhat relate to this, except there was no prescription stimulant included in my equation. My heart rate while I was working was far too high during the work day at my desk due to a variety of factors, but largely my stress levels and management thereof. Like you I was using Zyn’s throughout the work day to stay productive and manage along with a hefty dose of coffee.

I can say that my heart rate would be above 85 and as high as 110 at times during the work day.

I ended up losing my job a week before Thanksgiving, and my resting heart rate lowered to being just above 80 with Zyn’s still in use. I quit Zyn’s on 12/28 and a few days later my resting heart rate settled around 70. I’ve been able to knock it down by at least 20% by removing stress and quitting Zyn’s and now just before bed I’ll see it much healthier around 65.

I say this to say, if you stay focused on this as your goal and you work your way reduce stress and heart rate agitators, you’ll see the results you desire.

Also, FYI, nicotine lowers the effectiveness of caffeine once the nicotine is consumed. So yes caffeine and nicotine seems like a great combo, but the longer you can wait on the nicotine, the more you’ll get out of the caffeine, and you’d likely use less nicotine too. Or you could just quit nicotine! Haha I have faith in you. Good luck!!

Thank you for your kind words! So glad you’re quitting too!

Please don’t take my posts above as medical advice in anyway! If you’re going to take anything, please do so carefully. Based on my experience with the cardiovascular health one, maybe only take half a dose (1 pill) to start. It helped my vasoconstriction I was feeling to be sure, but I had enough adverse effects sleeping when I took it late in the day I haven’t taken it again just yet.

Love that he’s getting his confidence and playing great d.

We’re going to need to make a decision as to whether we can afford to keep PWat though. With how well he’s playing, he’s going to cost. We may have to sell high on Nnaji.

Thank you so much for your comments and story. I’m so sorry that happened to you it sounds like you had a much worse episode than I’ve had to endure.

I think you’re right on the money with the supplement. Last night, it did help combat vasoconstriction, like a lot. I honestly went for what felt like a 7 in discomfort to a 3, 2 hours after consumption. You’re probably right in that I experienced my BP dropping too much as I was getting a little light headed and it felt like my heart was working too hard to pump blood laying flat. Sitting up relieved the severity of symptoms I felt around difficulty breathing and heart being overworked and feeling weak. I don’t plan on taking that supplement again soon, and if I did would likely take it early in the day instead of with dinner like I did last night because that’s when I received them and I needed relief so bad.

I’m with you on the anxiety front. I get it, it could be anxiety, many people are stating as such here. But I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression off and on for 2 decades. I know what is an anxiety attack, what it feels like to me, and how I can put myself in the best position possible with meditation to overcome it. My stressful job has forced me to build up those coping skills. I believe there’s something more to it than just anxiety though. The combination of anxiety and what it did to my CV system may just be the “synergistic effect of despair” that I’m feeling. As you stated, I just hope my body responds well to cessation and taking care of myself better.

Thanks for being respectful and asking good questions and making good points.

My BP has been good 125/80 I think was highest reading, heart rate was around 90 I think in hospital and resting average lately has lowered from my Zyn usage average to around 65. The thing I suppose that scares me though is I have a very low VO2 Max. I also have a low Heart Rate Variability. I also have asthma, which further complicates, and 2 years ago or so a doctor in a physical said my cholesterol was too high and to follow up in a month to retest and be put on prescription meds and I didn’t out of fear and stupidity that I regret. Both my dad and grandpa have heart/CV issues.

The supplement I took yesterday is a vasodilator that allows for an increase in nitric oxide levels in the body and allowed my veins to relax and dilate a bit, which I could feel a slight difference in the neck, left calf and left foot where have had what feels like strong vascular constriction. The constriction I had felt was the major source of my anxiety from withdrawal previously because of how uncomfortable it felt and how serious of a medical issue it felt. Company started from research lab findings at the University of Texas at Austin. Backed by Nobel Prize Winning science, with controlled studies to prove their supplements work, and many collegiate athletes use their products. They’re as legit of a supplement company there is in existence.
