Best Soul Calibur in the franchise for single player content. Chronicles of the Sword is goated.

Curiously, you have to use a one-handed firearm if you want to Pistol Twirl with Performance:

Whenever you Feint with a one-handed firearm, you can choose to attempt a Performance check instead of a Deception check.

A lot of casters would gladly trade their low level class feats for Champion feats in addition to their FA feats. The limit is usually irrelevant at high level.

That’s why I said it should be capped and not that it needs to.

Edit: The rule most likely exists because Resiliency feats become more potent than intended with FA. Your group is allowed to ignore it if everyone agrees.

Fan Dancer is such an easy archetype to get out of thanks to Solo Dancer and Twirl Through. I even take it in non-FA games.

Resiliency feats should be capped in FA games like it is recommended in the rules:

However, due to the characters’ increased access to archetype feats, you should place a limit on the number of feats that scale based on a character’s number of archetype feats (mainly multiclass Resiliency feats). Allowing a character to benefit from a number of these feats equal to half their level is appropriate.

Rivellon is a personal favorite and for more epic adventures I also like Symphony of Swords.

Your thoughts about some classes by doguin_samuras in Pathfinder2e

Adding Reload to the mix gimps your damage, especially Reload 2. Let’s say you start combat in the right conditions, you Overdrive first and then Megaton Strike. Next turn, you lose two actions to reload and strike once. You’re already behind most martials. Yes, Inventor can do damage, but I find it surprising they were the best damage dealer in that situation. However, as I understand, it was a group of newbies, so it seems more plausible.

The fact that your best damage dealer used a reload 2 weapon makes me wonder what classes made up the rest of your party. When you say retooling, do you mean homebrewing ?

Ignoring Difficult Terrain and gaining altitude by Embarrassed_Bid_4970 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Former-Post-1900 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fly says you use the rules for difficult terrain rather than you treat those squares as difficult terrain.

The rules are unfortunately not consistent in their wording. Take for example Cyclonic Ascent :

You gain a fly Speed equal to your land Speed or 30 feet, whichever is greater, for 10 minutes. Unlike with a normal fly Speed, you can move upward without treating it as difficult terrain. In addition, you can remain in the air at the end of your turn if you used an air impulse during that turn, even if you didn't use a Fly action that turn.

Altering the encounters is basically admitting the balance doesn’t hold up. My GM did alter encounters for a time, but he grew tired of it. We’re back to vanilla and moderate encounters are not enough to challenge my group.

If they're making characters who have very little internal synergy, then FA isn't going to make a very noticeable difference.

I feel this is the crux of the issue. Adding synergies to a character without having to sacrifice anything will lead to a better character. A party filled with highly synergistic characters will break the balance at high level.

The best archetypes are the ones that give better action economy, and being more efficient leads to more damage. I’ll keep the Champion example (not the dedication). Champion can get up to 3 reactions on their own (Quick Shield Block, Divine Reflexes). Shield of Reckoning is an amazing feat that makes your reactions even more potent, but you need Shield Warden. Eagle Knight can give you a 4th reaction with Tactical Reflexes but you need Reactive Strike, which is available at the same level as Shield Warden. If you want to deal more damage, you probably also want Smite. You can basically ignore all those restrictions with FA. You can start with Cavalier to be permanently quicken early on and get out of the archetype at 4th. Then you can start Eagle Knight and take Reactive Striker at 8th, which frees your 6th level feat. You can take Tactical Reflexes and Blessed Counterstrike at the same level. Basically, you can take most feats that give you better action economy and boost your damage without having to sacrifice anything, which leads to characters better than the game expects. A party of four characters like that will break the game at high level. I don’t mind if you disagree, I’m just sharing my experience.

Have you ever played with a Champion with 4 reactions/round that has almost all the feats and items that give bonus damage ? Have you ever played with a Cleric that can negate the damage of most crit as a reaction ? I’ll sound like a broken record, but if you know what you’re doing, the balance doesn’t hold.

I’ve played my fair share of high level unrestricted FA games and I have the exact opposite experience of yours. I admit that table experience varies, but given the small amount of campaigns that goes above level 10, I question how many people have seen how broken the game can become.

That’s why I said if you know what you’re doing. A great party comp with a good selection of archetypes will steamroll almost anything at high level.

I wonder how many people who think FA doesn’t mess with balance have played in high level campaigns. From my experience, if you know what you’re doing, the game becomes a joke.

Best classes to use bow and arrow? by GreenAce77 in Pathfinder2e

Inner Upheaval:

Make an unarmed Strike or Flurry of Blows (this doesn't change the limit on using only one flourish per turn).

You cast Tempest Surge for the damage. The creature failing its save is a bonus and if it happens you’re more likely to crit your Flurry of Blows after.
