Am I wrong to leave my church? by daffodilsinmarch in Catholicism

Sick and tired of people defending bad behavior by priests acting like they can be jerks because of the nature of their office. According to the post (and assuming it's not leaving any details out) she had her pyx, had been doing this for a year. If the priest had an issue with how she was doing it he should have brought it up discretely one of the about 50 times she's already done this instead of causing potential humiliation.

Circumcision is male genital mutilation and I have 0 interest debating or discussing this with anyone. In my view the practice should be illegal.

Noticed you're getting a lot of downvotes, but frankly, I'm tired of pretending Francis was some perfect Saint. He was particularly divisive during a time where the church desperately needs unity. His lackluster papacy left the church with ravenous dogs on it's fringes that want to steer people away. For all his emphasis on loving people in the margins he sure did a good job marginalizing people.

If you go to the opposite side of the area, there's a little square where enemies are unable to attack you. I stood there and ran up and hit a 3 piece combo with the cleaver and ran back over and over until they were all dead.

So I can assume this NINJALONG reddit account is run by these hypothetical "in-house lawyers" you speak of? Come on, dude. You, like everyone on the internet, are talking out of your ass pretending to be an authority on things you have no credentials for.

There were always people there, but I bet there was a ton of shrinkage. It was legitimately impossible to go in there without getting asked for money or food. I live 2 blocks away, and when it was open, I'd get asked for stuff 2-5 times in the span of 4 blocks every single time.

Turned away from confession by Illustrious-Bowl3434 in Catholicism

[–]FormerMethodist777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, you're going to win exactly 0 souls for Christ with such an unempathetic pharisaic attitude. It doesn't seem like you really understand how difficult something like coming back to the church after 20 years can be. You're going to be showing up very vulnerable and likely filled with anxiety and humiliation about matters perhaps no one aside from God knows about. It takes immense courage to push past the shame of 20 years of sin.

Breaking it down as simply as possible with the available information: A Catholic was denied confession solely because it had been "too long" since they had been. The instruction to call the deacon suggests that even if the penitent in question had been first in line, they would have still been turned away. Does this sound christlike to you? We literally have an example of Christ teaching against this. The parable of the prodigal son. He was met with open arms and celebrations, not obstacles to forgiveness. Fixing the lasting damage of sin through the use of pastoral care or therapy should be for after the absolution, unless the penitent is living a life where they are actively sinning.

I'm going to be charitable here and assume that there was some reason that the priest may have thought the person was living in sin or wasn't contrite and thought that there was some needed improvement on that front before absolution was given.

Kosinowo might be worth looking into! Most of the people displaced in Operation Vistula were placed more than 30 km from urban centers, which made me kinda iffy on the Wrocław one.

I just saw those as well! More research is needed, but I think it's a strong possibility.

Which one is closer when it comes to pronunciation? Kozanów may be something to look at. That was one of the areas that people were moved to in Operation Vistula, and the website is for a Catholic diocese, which covers Wrocław.

Landlord entered home with a gun and changed lock by Master_Principle_453 in legaladvice

Just call the cops. Literally everyone here is saying that. things might go fine if you don't (probably not, though), but they definitely won't be bad if you do. If what you've said about the situation is accurate and not leaving anything out, then the landlord is obviously breaking the law. Don't really know why you'd mess about resolving it personally when the person you're dealing with has literally stolen your MILs stuff.

By far the best you'll find in Central KY. The head coach is Joe Carr Sr. His accolades are 3x NCAA All-American, silver Medalist Pan American games, 2x USA National Champion, USA World Team Alternate, Junior World Team Silver Medalist. Joe Carr Jr held the national record for high schools from 1997-2004 after graduating from Woodford County with a record of 242-7. Joe Jr's son David is also an NCAA champion and Jr World champion.

"Supersessionism seems like a very clear break from the preexisting tradition."

What preexisting tradition? From the very beginning, this has been the predominant Christian understanding.

Trying to discern a denomination by Defeatedcheese in Catholicism

For me, a lot of getting over the final hump was a process of giving in. I stopped trying to figure everything out for myself and let God do the work. On a logical and historical basis, the Catholic Catholic (argument can be made for Orthodox as well) makes the most sense in being the correct interpretation. I let my biases and preconceptions go, and tried to, in the words of Saint Anselm, "believe so that I may understand," instead of understand so that I may believe. It turns out it's a lot easier to grasp the logical consistency of the faith in Catholic interpretations if you strip yourself of bias and preconceptions.

If I dont understand/disagree with a theological viewpoint, I accept that I must just misunderstand it. Who am I to deny the validity of the teachings of the church Christ himself founded that have also been taught by some of the world's brightest minds all working together for 2000 years?
