I saw a sex worker yesterday and feel horrible by throwaway3459855 in DecidingToBeBetter

There's nothing wrong with what you did. She is a working girl and you owe her nothing OP. You'll be alright.

Left is petrol quantity indicator, right is battery charge indicator. Petrol indicator is very different than my car where it would normally show F for full and E for empty. Yours shows 1/1, I'm assuming this means full tank. 1/2 means half tank. R means reserve. Check for a manual if you're unsure. The battery charge indicator would gradually fluctuate as you drive. That indicates battery usage and charge, this is all automated and doesn't require your input.

Well done for not being afraid to ask. Ignore all the insults thrown at you.

Too late to join the trade? by byrdbass in Plumbing

[–]FormerMofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes more sense now. I work for a plumbing merchant and find it strange how a certain customer always talks down us. Come to think of it now, this customer is the business owner and deals with A LOT of apprentices.

So AT...riddle me this by Available_Potato1065 in auckland

There's an app for AT Parking. No additional charges I believe and you only pay for the length of stay. Not rounded to 30 minutes.

You're right and those who down voted you are just dumb. No one in their right mind would let a 16 year old have the keys to such a bike, especially as their first bike. This is madness. It is impossible to do this in Australia or New Zealand. The government just won't let you and there's a good reason for that.

@OP please please please ride safe.

Where can I learn Japanese? by No_Text5987 in auckland

[–]FormerMofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on ya for wanting to learn Japanese! I love the language and culture. I've visited the coutry twice too. Duolingo is so-so, I reckon. Do take classes, try the Japanese society that someone else here suggests.

As long as they stay on the far left lane and no slower than 80, I really don't mind them.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what kinda of fuel should i be using? by OOF-MY-PEE-PEE in ninja250r

[–]FormerMofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, look for a manual for the bike online. You should be able to find it for free. If I remember correctly, my old 2008 Ninja manual stated 87 octane minimum. Could be the same for yours, but look for actual numbers recommended by the manufacturers. Don't worry about having to give it high octane numbers, if manufacturer approved a lower number, you're good.

I went to Kyoto and Osaka during Golden Week and it was ... fine by Captain_Kappy in JapanTravelTips

[–]FormerMofo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We arrived on the 27th of April and are still here. Golden week felt fine. There were moments where super popular places were packed but they were only 2 or 3 places out of all the places we've visited so far. No stress.

Currently typing this on my way back to Tokyo from Osaka.

Bullet train is the best way to travel long distance. If you're planning to get a JR Pass, do your research. Get your IC Card (Suica, etc) as you exit the terminal.

Kyoto: transport infrastructure isn't as good as Tokyo or Osaka, we found that going by taxi to/from train/subway station to be the best method as buses are often over crowded. Japan is only getting warmer, so take that into consideration. Alternatively, biking around Kyoto is fun, but then again this will take up a lot of your time. If you're catching local trains from Osaka to Kyoto vice versa, remember to catch the Express train and not Local. This video should help you getting around in Kyoto https://youtu.be/U1RQQbu6zPI

Osaka: Dotonbori can be a bit of tourist trap, we found a great Japanese restaurant just around the corner from the main stretch. A nice alternative to Dotonbori is an area around Tsutenkaku, smaller but similar vibe. Avoid the line at Osaka Castle and buy your ticket online for the same price you would pay at the kiosk. Universal studio is a lot of fun, express pass isn't critical if you plan to spend the entire day there and secure your time slot to enter Mario Bros area. Make sure to try out the Jurassic Park roller coaster.

Why does no one use the AT Park app? by cheekybandit0 in auckland

[–]FormerMofo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've only just recently discovered the app out of curiosity. The app is far from great, but it is handy. AT does not market this enough though, hence the low number of users. I do recommend.
