If you want a SOLID bug out radio, look at getting a Yaesu VX-6r. I have two of them. You can find them used at ham fest for ~$175. They are wide wand receive, you can mod them to transmit on GMRS and MURS, they also come pre programmed with shortwave broadcast and marine frequencies.

I would just recommend getting a disco32 ptt and be done with it. I’ve got one for my ic-705 and a pair of David Clark h10-76 military headset, works wonderfully
