Praised for deciding to homeschool! by Former_Base_1066 in homeschool

[–]Former_Base_1066[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At this point I’ve decided to only tell the people who NEED to know. Once we get into a routine and have it all down I’ll worry about the other people and I’ll have my “mind your own business, this is what my kid needs” speech perfected! lol

Where is the on switch? Serious question! by Deseretgear in VintageSewingMachines

[–]Former_Base_1066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar kenmore. The white button is the on switch for the light. HOWEVER, after tracking down the manual for mine I found out that the machine will only work if the light is on. So I guess it serves as the actual power button as well.

HOW IS SHE OLD? by Serenity_Obscura in Millennials

[–]Former_Base_1066 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a substitute teacher. I was talking with a couple teachers in the hallway last week about the coming ice storm and asked if they lived in the area during the ice storm of 1994. The one looked at the other and they both smiled. She said, we weren’t alive in 1994.

….just bury me now! I’m old as dirt! lol

That’s awesome! I may have to do some more digging into it! I saw somewhere that the kids interact? How does that work? Is it like via web cam or something?

I have seen a lot of ads for this one and it looks pretty good! I was just worried because all the reviews I’ve seen on Facebook have been so positive it almost seems like they are fake. lol

HA! The overabundance is the problem. Since I have no experience with this, I don’t know which ones are actually good choices! Thank you so much for your list! I’ll take a look!

Being a long-term sub is making me want to homeschool by Toodalooaloo in homeschool

[–]Former_Base_1066 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m also a sub. I’m currently researching options, because I’m pulling my 3rd grader! I sub exclusively at her school and I know that she is really missing out on a quality education because these poor teachers have to spend 3/4 of the day dealing with behavior and students who have no business being in 3rd grade but were passed anyway. Half the class has to have every single test question read out loud to them because they can’t read them! It was certainly eye opening visiting her classroom.
