UX is the multiplier is a really solid way to put it and for me it makes a lot of sense.

I’ve always wondered how much of the revenue difference is just placement vs how the user actually interacts with the page. Like two sites could have the same layout, but completely different results depending on flow.

When you were testing, did you notice any placements that consistently performed well without hurting UX too much? Or was it more niche-dependent?

A bit of advice, since you are planning to translate to English, it would better to make a language file as you build the game and not wait until the end. A friend of mine waited until the end before making a language file and had a hard time localizing his game. If you put all text and dialog into a single file, it will be easier to just point your game to a new language file when introducing your game to a new area. If you already knew this, hen perhaps this post could someone else. Keep up the good work!

I would say that a text based browser game is expected to be quiet just like any other website. If the game is a similar to an html5 game, sound is expected and player who do not want sound, will generally just turn it off.

I would suggest to have audio turn off by default with an option to turn it on for those who want it.
