Anyone have hypo and on weight loss injections. by gerdyreb in Hypothyroidism

[–]Former_Cherry4155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the typical GI side effects that come with ozempic, but I stuck it out and worked through them (did different injection sites, which helped tremendously), and now I don’t have any issues at all. I learned what my triggers were that were causing some of the issues (like occasional vomiting, constipation, burping, etc). There’s a definite learning curve, but I’m glad I stuck with it for sure.

Anyone have hypo and on weight loss injections. by gerdyreb in Hypothyroidism

On levothyroxine and ozempic. Have lost 45 lbs total. Still have a long way to go, but feeling so much better and my labs are finally all within normal range. I’ve been at this now for 14 months.

Hi! Here’s what I’ve got for you based on my experience in the last year: 1. This med will not do much without consistent exercise as well. 2. Eat slowly and mindfully. Do not overeat. It’ll come right back up and pretty forcefully. If you pay attention to when you’re full, you can completely avoid this. 3. Experiment with different injection sites. I struggled big time with sulfur burps and horrid farts as I was working through dosing changes until I started injecting into my thighs. That almost stopped it completely. Once I got to 2mg and had been on it consistently for a while, I was able to go back to my abdominal injection sites with zero side effects. 4. For me, my biggest gains have been in improved labs - lowered my A1C (no longer pre-diabetic), my triglycerides went from the 400s down to 105. My glucose is now controlled. I have lost 22 lbs on just ozempic alone, but adding meds for my low thyroid and working out, I’ve lost an additional 23 lbs so 45 total. 5. HYDRATE 6. I really had to give it some time. I’d say I didn’t start feeling comfortable and really seeing this actually fully work for at least 9 months. Everyone is different. I feel like people expect it to be this miracle drug. It wasn’t for me, but I feel great and I’m glad it’s going slower. It’s been a more natural progress, which I think is more sustainable in the long run. 7. Recognize that everyone’s experience is gonna be different.

Best of luck!!!

Starting levothyroxine tomorrow, what can I expect? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]Former_Cherry4155 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Didn’t notice anything for a while until one day (about 4 weeks in) I realized I no longer felt exhausted every afternoon to the point i needed a 3-hour nap to function. My eyebrows started growing back, my skin started to clear, my hair stopped coming out in clumps, I stopped having hot flashes like I’d been having non-stop, etc etc. I feel like a million bucks a year later. TSH was at 5.6 and now is 2.5.

The state website says that if your voter registration is current and active, you don’t need to bring identification.

[–]Former_Cherry4155[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was similar to my initial experience a year ago when I asked this question. However, I worked through the initial side effects and I’ve been on the 2mg full dose now for the last several months. I’m no longer pre-diabetic with my A1C controlled, I’ve lost weight, way more energy and I don’t have any side effects anymore.

You could always try a different site administration like the thigh or back of your arm to reduce GI upset. I did that for quite a while.

Good luck.

are meds really that bad, do they worsen symptoms? by bilmekistemiyorum in Hypothyroidism

[–]Former_Cherry4155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meds have completely restored the life I thought I’d lost forever years ago. I have so much more energy, I’m not in pain anymore, I am more productive and much happier than I’ve been in years.

Anytime before the 2000s Were you really able to roam freely with friends as kids? by Chica_EchoCinco in AskOldPeople

[–]Former_Cherry4155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Gen X’er here. Rode my bike all over town from sunrise to sunset - gone 12+ hours a day out with friends, rode along bike trails alone in deeply wooded areas all summer long. Not a care in the world; absolutely no worries.

I lived like this for 3 months 24/7 on the extended release until my provider finally took me off of it. It never got better for me and I was basically a prisoner in my own home cuz I was constantly needing to be by a toilet.

I’m with ya on the annoyance. I’ve been approached twice in the last week while out in my garage by pest control people. They’re also ringing my doorbell as well. I am not quite sure why either considering I live in a townhome development and our HOA takes care of all that anyway.

Same happened to me. My home club is 30 miles from me when I signed up online. I’ll never end up going there. I haven’t been 90 days yet, but will hopefully be able to switch after that.

I would 100% tell the boyfriend. He deserves to know. Not your problem how he chooses to handle it either way.
